Internet meme Grumpy Cat to be the first Madame Tussauds animatronic celebrity
Madame Tussauds has announced that the Internet sensation Grumpy Cat will be the first ever cat to be to be featured in its halls. Thats right, Madam Tussaud’s will create Grumpy Cat’s own wax animatronic figure at their museum in San Francisco.
Grumpy Cat shot to international stardom when her photo was posted on Reddit on September 22, 2012. The reddit posts made her celebrity, though there were some who accused Grumpy of being a photoshop. To dispel suspicions that the image had been Photoshopped, she posted two videos to YouTube. The videos went viral, making her the darling of meme-loving macro-makers everywhere.
How does it feel to be a legend at Tussauds
Apparently, Grumpy Cat is not happy. After all, it isnt going be any fun to have Tussaud’s technicians fussing, poking, measuring and flipping her to collect the data they need to create her own wax animatronic figure.
“This is truly an honor…” said a distinctly unimpressed Grumpy Cat. “I hate it.”
Grumpy Cat now joins the ranks of the most famous personalities like Steve Jobs, Beyonce, President Obama, Joe Montana, Audrey Hepburn and more.
Madame Tussaud’s said that Grumpy Cat’s figure will be an animatronic with five different movements. The animatronic will be unveiled at Madame Tussauds’ San Francisco location later this year. After a short stay at Madame Tussauds San Francisco, the animatronic will tour the remaining five Madame Tussauds attractions across the US.
