Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone codenamed ‘Project Dream’ to feature Dual camera

Samsung Galaxy S8 rumored to have a 4K display and dual camera

Once again it is been rumoured that the upcoming flagship Samsung Galaxy S8 will feature a 4K (UHD) display in anticipation of Daydream VR certification. The device is supposedly made behind the closed doors under the code name ‘Project Dream’, which is expected to be released at Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2017.

As for its codename, it is influenced by Google’s Daydream VR (virtual reality) initiative. While devices with as a Full HD display are also receiving certification for Daydream, Samsung wants to offer the best VR experience with the Galaxy S8 and its 4K display.

For those unfamiliar, Google is working on a VR platform desgined for Android OEMs to work with on their hardware.

The company has already demonstrated a 5.5-inch 4K AMOLED display with a pixel density of 806 ppi at a display conference, which has been especially designed for the VR experience and will be compatible with Google’s headset and Samsung’s own Gear VR headset. The new screen supports sharper pixels than those of the Galaxy S7 QHD 5 that makes it difficult for anybody to complain about pixilation.

While not much has been revealed about the features that the Galaxy S8 will feature, but the phone is expected to ship with Android 7.0 Nougat along with a sustained Performance Mode for VR. There are also speculations that this smartphone will have a dual camera sensor keeping in mind the competition with Huawei P9, LG G5  and the upcoming iPhone 7 Plus/Pro. According to the rumours, the dual-camera sensor will be engineered by Samsung Motors aka SEMCO; so, the firm this time would be producing its own imaging tech.

As for the Galaxy S8’s design, it is expected to retain the metal and glass build of its predecessor. Samsung is also planning to deliver a new USB Type-C version of the Gear VR alongside the Galaxy Note 7.

The Samsung Galaxy S8 is estimated to be priced between $720 and $780 when it becomes available to the public next year.
