Ashley Madison Claims 87596 Women Joined The Website Last Week

Ashley Madison says hack not stopping new users and 87000 new women members joined it

Avid Life Media, the Company behind the extramarital affairs website Ashley Madison is trying hard to recover from the major blow made by “The Impact Team” hack attack. In order to prove that everything is fine despite that major hack Avid Life Media recently said, in a statement issued to CNN Money that “hundreds of thousands registered on the site just last week alone, and 87,596 of those users are women”.

“Recent media reports predicting the imminent demise of Ashley Madison are greatly exaggerated,” the statement said. According to security experts who analyzed the leaked information, 90% to 95% of the website’s users were men. But the website has claimed that its not true, saying the ratio of active men users to women on the site is actually 1.2 to 1

Hackers belonging to Impact Team hacked this website in July, cracking it completely and uploading its database dumps on the dark web. In all, the Impact Team has leaked almost 60GB of Ashley Madison data and are said to be holding another 300GB of data. The leaked data which contains Ashley Madison user names, emails, home addresses, financial data and message history, has so far created an awkward situation for the users. There also have been reports of extortion attempts and two unconfirmed suicides, according to Canadian police.

The sensitive personal information of U.S. government workers – some with sensitive jobs in the White House, Congress and the Justice Department – was also revealed. While hundreds of email addresses in the data release were suspected to be connected to the high level officials.

It is clear that Avid Media Life is in the mood to stay in competition and to still expand its business even after users have almost lost faith in it.
