Pro-ISIS hacker group releases longest ‘kill list’ of over 8,000 Americans as its targets
A pro-ISIS hacker group called the United Cyber Caliphate (UCC) has placed nearly over 8,000 Americans on its longest ‘kill list’ that also includes names of Americans, Australians, Britons and Canadians.
The hacker group also released a list both written in English and Arabic that included names, residential addresses and email contact details of 8,318 individuals on a secretive messaging application called Telegram, according to Vocativ online news site. It urged its supporters to “follow” the list and “kill them strongly to take revenge of Muslims.”
“Out of 7,848 people identified as being in the U.S. alone, 1,445 were listed as having addresses in California, 643 in Florida, 341 in Washington, 333 in Texas, 331 in Illinois, and 290 in New York. Another 312 names and addresses allegedly belong to people in Canada, while 69 allegedly belong to people in Australia. Another 39 are affiliated with the U.K. and the rest are listed with addresses in Belgium, Brazil, China, Estonia, France, Germany, Greece, Guatemala, Indonesia, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Jamaica, New Zealand, South Korea, Sweden and Trinidad and Tobago.”
It’s unclear at this point as to why only these particular names and address were chosen, if they are somehow connected, and if the list included information that could not be easily accessed online.
Many of those included in the list are military or government workers or well-known personalities, like royal people or celebrities, according to Press Trust of India.
A recent report released by Flashpoint, an intelligence firm, stated that the UCC was a result of a merger of many of the hacking groups back in April 2015, adding that ISIS does not officially recognize the group.
The report states:
“…it is important to note that because the pro-ISIS hacking effort is still an unofficial endeavor, neither acknowledged nor claimed by ISIS itself, it is still poorly organized (and likely under-resourced).”
Therefore, UCC has now taken to publishing “hit lists” and calling on ISIS loyalists to attack various individuals like the Minnesota cops, the US state department officials and civilians.
However, Vocativ cited a report by the Wall Street Journal which stated that counter terrorism officials are still trying to determine if such lists are released to only infuse fear in the minds of individuals or actually threaten them.
Satellite images showing U.S air bases around the world were also published by UCC on its Telegram channel on Monday. The same images can be found on Google Earth.
Rats can’t find the list, I would be very insulted if I am not on it.
We as citizens need to be aware of our surroundings and report any suspicious behaviors, they stated it on the news.
