Acer launches the “world’s thinnest laptop” now available for order starting at $999

Acer launches Swift 7, the thinnest laptop in the market at $999

Acer had revealed Swift 7, its self-pro,claimed “world’s thinnest laptop,” back in August at the 2016 IFA conference in Berlin. It is now available for order in the U.S. starting at $999.

The Acer Swift 7 measures less than a centimeter thick at 9.98 mm (0.39 inches) and weighs a mere 2.48 pounds (1.1 kg). Acer’s Swift 7 has dislodged HP’s 10.4 mm-thick Spectre ultrabook as the world’s thinnest laptop that was launched earlier this year.

The Swift 7 features a 13.3-inch Full HD (1920 X 1080) IPS display, which features IPS technology for wide viewing angles and colour clarity, Gorilla Glass for durability, and Acer’s own BluelightShield tech to minimize eye fatigue. Under the hood, Swift 7 packs a 1.20 GHz (Kaby Lake) Intel Core i5 processor, a 256 GB SSD, 8GB of RAM, and 802.11ac Wi-Fi support. This model comes with a 2770 mAh battery that offers up to 9 hours of battery life from a single charge.

Acer’s Swift 7 comes with dual USB 3.1 Type-C ports, dual Dolby Audio speakers along with an HD webcam with HDR (High Dynamic Range) imaging support that provides clear, bright and detailed images. It is carved from uni-body aluminium, and awash in a black-and-gold finish bringing a touch of elegance to the model.

Those interested in ordering Acer’s black-and-gold colored Swift 7 can grab it from Acer’s store or website for a price tag of $1,099.99 or from a variety of different retailers including Best Buy and Amazon. It is worth noting that both Best Buy and Amazon are offering the same model at a discount, at $1,049.99 and $999.99 respectively. More Swift 7 configurations will be available in the coming weeks says Acer.
