Here’s A List Of Phones That Will Receive The Android 7.0 Nougat

Check out the list of phones to get the Android 7.0 OS

A more stable, more polished experience is the main draw of Android 7.0 “Nougat”, which is the seventh major version of the Android operating system. First released as a beta build on March 9, 2016, it was officially released on August 22, 2016.

Nougat introduces notable changes to the operating system and its development platform, including the ability to display multiple apps on-screen at once in a split-screen view, an OpenJDK-based Java environment and support for the Vulkan graphics rendering API, support for inline replies to notifications, and “seamless” system updates on supported devices.

Due to this reason, many Android device owners are anticipating which phones will get the firmware update and when.

Given below is a list of updates on which devices will receive Android 7.0 Nougat, which also includes the rumoured devices that will be getting the new OS.

Nexus

What better to begin with than the Nexus family who are always the first ones to get Android updates. However, the Nexus 6P and Nexus 5X owners have reported problems after updating to Android 7.0 in August.

Still, Nougat amps up the functionality of Android devices, thanks to upgrades such as the multilingual support (which allows for easy switching between languages), Quick Reply (which also lets users delete, share or archive a message using the notification itself), the split-screen/multi-window mode, and quick app switching, among others.

• Nexus 6P
• Nexus 5X
• Nexus 9
• Nexus 6
• Nexus Player
• Pixel C
• General Mobile 4G (Android One)

Samsung

Samsung had lined up the phablet among devices that would receive Android 7.0 Nougat before the manufacture and sale of the Galaxy Note 7 were stopped around the world. The list now includes:

• Galaxy S7
• Galaxy S7 Edge
• Galaxy Note 5
• Galaxy S6
• Galaxy S6 Edge
• Galaxy S6 Edge+

Compared to rivals like LG, Samsung has a reputation for following a slower pace when it comes to switching devices to the latest OS. The Galaxy Note 4 recently received Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow on some carriers in the U.S. The said Android OS version could also be the last update planned for the Galaxy S5, clearly because the device is more than 2.5 years old now.

GFXBench who spotted the Android Nougat-operated Galaxy S7 indicate that the OS upgrade is forthcoming for the flagship, although a more realistic timeline suggests that the Android 7.0 Nougat will be released sometime in the first quarter of 2017 to the device.

Sony

The following devices from Sony will receive Android 7.0 Nougat in batches, according to a leaked report in September. However, the authenticity of the document is still unclear:

• Xperia X Performance – October
• Xperia XZ – October
• Xperia X – November
• Xperia X Compact – November
• Xperia Z5 – December
• Xperia Z3+ – December
• Xperia Z4 Tablet – December
• Xperia XA – early 2017
• Xperia Ultra – early 2017

Motorola

While Motorola has the longest list of devices geared up for Android 7.0 Nougat, some of its freshest offerings, such as the Moto G (2015) and Moto E3 Power (2016), are noticeably absent. It may be possible that the forthcoming devices may skip Android 7.0 and directly go for an Android 7.1 update. However, there is no confirmed news on the same at this moment.

• Moto G (4th Gen)
• Moto G Plus (4th Gen)
• Moto G Play (4th Gen)
• Moto X Pure Edition (3rd Gen)
• Moto X Style
• Moto X Play
• Moto X Force
• Moto Z
• Moto Z Droid
• Moto Z Force Droid
• Moto Z Play
• Moto Z Play Droid
• Droid Maxx 2
• Droid Turbo 2

LG

The highly anticipated LG V20 is expected to be powered by Android 7.0 Nougat after which the LG fans can expect the G5 to officially receive the upgrade most probably this month.

The V10 may end up receiving Nougat update about five to six months from the OS’s initial release. Further, a benchmark test on Geekbench suggests that the 2-year-old G3 may also get the new OS.

• LG V20
• LG V10
• LG G5
• LG G3

OnePlus

Even though the team at OnePlus has not provided a timeline for the release of Android 7.0 Nougat to the OnePlus 3, they are actively working on getting it. The 2016 flagship at the latest could receive the OS upgrade in the first quarter of 2017, followed by the former flagship OnePlus 2 roughly about a couple of months later.

• OnePlus 3
• OnePlus 2

HTC

HTC Bolt, the company’s forthcoming mid-range smartphone, will be the first HTC device to operate on Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box. The following devices are expected to receive the OS update in the last quarter of 2016:

• HTC 10
• HTC One M10
• HTC One M9
• HTC One A9
