Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus price, specs and availability leaked

Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a rear Fingerprint scanner, 6GB RAM and will cost $900

After the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 fiasco last year, Samsung is not taking any chances with the release of its upcoming flagship, the Samsung Galaxy S8. The company is taking its own time in prepping up for the release of the awesome Android 7.0 Nougat powered flagship. Now, if sources are to be believed, Samsung Galaxy S8 is all set to launch on March 29 and expected to go on sale later in April. It is also rumored that Samsung Galaxy S8 will have a personal digital assistant called Bixby to handle complex commands.

According to a leak given by a company insider, China and South Korea will only get the 6GB RAM+128GB ROM variant of Galaxy S8. However, users in Asian markets will be able to choose between 64GB and 128GB of internal storage both with 6GB RAM.

There will also be a third option available for all the users outside the Asian market, i.e., Europe and rest of the countries which is 4GB RAM + 64GB ROM, says the tipster. The 6GB RAM+64GB ROM variant of Samsung Galaxy S8 will be priced at 6,088 yuan (approx $885), while 6GB RAM+128GB ROM option will cost 6,488 yuan (approx $943). The third variant of Galaxy S8 sporting 4GB RAM along with 64GB storage will launch in Europe and other global markets. However, the price of the third option is still unknown, but older leaks have hinted at 6280 yuan (approx $916).

According to the latest rumors, the Samsung Galaxy S8 will ship in two models – both with a dual-curved, edge-to-edge display. The device will have stunning near bezel-less design with a very high screen to body ratio. The Galaxy S8 will ship with a large 5.8-inch Quad HD display and a 3,250mAh battery. There is also expected to be a 6.2-inch QHD AMOLED display model, with a huge 3,750mAh battery capacity, marketed as the Galaxy S8 Plus. The smartphone is expected to run on Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor (in some markets) while being powered by Samsung’s Exynos SoC in others.

Galaxy S8 is expected to feature a 12MP rear camera and an 8MP front camera (both with f/1.7 apertures). Samsung is believed to feature its Dual Pixel technology in the rear camera to make it better in terms of image and video stabilization, autofocus as well as pixel density. The front camera will be combined with an Iris Recognition sensor and will act as another mode of biometric authentication. Other rumours have suggested the larger Samsung Galaxy S8 Plus will sport a dual-camera set-up, like the iPhone 7 Plus. With the home button gone, the back of the device sports the fingerprint scanner placed next to the camera sensor.

Samsung will include a new button for its virtual assistant Bixby. Bixby will reportedly be able to use the cameras on the Samsung Galaxy S8 to scan your surroundings, surfacing useful information about what it is looking at. This will allow the smartphone to identify the objects it is pointed at – and will be able to direct you to online retailers where you can buy the item. The search functionality will reportedly be closely tied with Samsung Pay.

Samsung Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus will carry a USB-C port for charging and syncing, as well as a 3.5mm headphone port. The Galaxy S8 will be getting force touch functionality (like Apple iPhones) on the lower part of the display, and will be able to distinguish between the pressure put on the display.
