Instagram Bumps Reel Length Up To 90 Seconds

Meta-owned photo-sharing platform Instagram on Thursday announced that it has now extended the time limit of Instagram Reels to up to 90 seconds to help creators engage more with their audience.

Earlier, the creators were allowed to make only 60-second videos.

“We’re giving you more time to play on Reels, by extending the length to up to 90 seconds. You’ll have more time to share more about yourself, film extra behind-the-scenes clips, dig deeper into the nuances of your content, or whatever else you want to do with that extra time,” Instagram wrote in an official blog post on Thursday.

Besides the time extension, the social networking platform has introduced new features such as fresh sound effects, import your own audio, and interactive stickers among others. Let’s have a look at them one by one.

Reels has added fresh sound effects like air horns, crickets, drums, and more, to enable creators to add humor or emotions to their Reels.

Further, creators can import their own audio directly within Instagram Reels. This feature will allow them to add commentary or background noise from any video that’s at least five seconds long on the creator’s camera roll and import the sound from the video into Reels.

Additionally, Instagram has made the interactive stickers from Stories now available on Reels. The interactive stickers will offer creators more opportunities to engage with their community as well as help pull in new viewers who can become part of their storytelling.

Creators can now add, Poll Stickers for two-part reels so that they can get their audience’s views on ‘what should happen in the next video, Quiz Stickers to test their audience’s skills (or teach them something new), and Emoji Slider to let their audience share how they feel about the Reels using emojis.

Recently, the photo-sharing platform launched Templates, which allows users to easily create a reel using another one as a template. It pre-loads the audio and clip placeholders so that users can add and trim their unique clips.

“We’ll continue to invest in building new ways for you to connect with your audience and entertain on Reels. We can’t wait to see what you come up with and the creative ways you use these new tools!” Instagram concluded.
