Congressional candidate forgets to close porn tabs before sharing screenshot on Facebook

Congressional candidate, Mike Webb must have had the most terrible Monday in his career. One little mistake on his part and the whole world came to know that he enjoys viewing porn websites.

Mike Webb, candidate for U.S. Congress in Virginia’s 8th congressional district, used a screenshot of his browser to illustrate a story in a Facebook post but forgot to close a few tabs sitting on porn sites before taking the screenshot, as noted by Gawker.

As is the precedent now a days, social media warriors immediately latched on to the fact that Webb had been surfing porn while taking the screenshots. As soon as the screenshot became viral on social media, Webb did his best to cover up his actions through a incoherent post of his PC being infected by virus and/or he was studying the virus etc (the post has since been removed).

A quick Google search of those phrases — purely for research purposes — shows the Layla Rivera brings up popular PornHub and other NSFW websites.

At the end of the day Webb looks like he had a winner on his hands despite all the brouhaha. After all the hullabaloo of him surfing porn, he actually managed to increase his social media presence by 25 percent after the story broke.

In his latest post, Webb says, “Lessons affirmed today include that we do expect our leaders to be examples of our highest ideals, but also, as we have seen for almost a year in non-traditional length posts, people are interested and motivated by truth and substance, not flash or even scandal.”

He then notes his social media growth — 25% growth in Facebook page likes in just one day! — and adds, “Perhaps, what does not kill you does make you stronger.”
