Apple Sending Out Promotional iPhone XR Emails To Older iPhone Owners

Apple asking to upgrade

Apple asking owners of older iPhones to upgrade to iPhone XR

Apple has chosen a unique way to market its new iPhone XR smartphones. Apparently, the tech giant is targeting owners of older iPhones with customized emails urging them to upgrade to an iPhone XR.

The emails that are specifically targeted to owners of particular iPhone models in the United States explains the advantages of upgrading to the iPhone XR. Apparently, Apple has been sending out these emails to owners of older iPhones since late last year.

According to a report from Reddit (via MacRumors), one iPhone 6 Plus owner mentioned how the email directly compared his device to the iPhone XR. The promotional email also pointed out the iPhone XR’s larger display, more durable glass, longer battery life, up to 3 times faster performance, and water resistance. It also says the iPhone XR has more storage for photos and apps, can take studio-quality photos and 4K video, and has a secure Face ID. It also included a $200 limited-time trade-in offer.

The iPhone 6 Plus owner said that he has not upgraded his iPhone model from the time it has been bought. He, however, did mention that he had opted for last year’s special $29 battery replacement offer ending December 31, which is why he could have received the email.

Apple had launched its 2018 line of iPhones – the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR for $999, $1,099 and $750 respectively. However, the steep prices, particularly that of iPhone XS and XS Max, has resulted in weak sales of these smartphones. Also, the cheap battery replacement program running last year saw many customers opt for the offer, which also could have dampened the sales of the newer iPhones.

Now, with the battery replacement program ending on December 31, 2018, Apple is hoping to make some revenue from the sale of its iPhone XR units through trade-in offer and recover from the setback caused by poor sales of iPhone XS and XS Max.

Chinese man who sold kidney to buy iPhone now bedridden for life

Chinese man who sold kidney to buy iPhone now bedridden for life

Chinese man suffers organ failure after selling his kidney to buy an iPhone

We have heard crazy stories about Chinese people going to the extent of selling their sperms to kidneys to newborn kids to own Apple’s latest gadgets. Well, this obsession to own an iPad and iPhone has now rendered this Chinese man bedridden for life!

Wang Shangkun, now 25, had sold his right kidney as a teenager (17 years) in 2011 to the black-market organ harvesters to buy Apple’s latest devices, as his family was too poor to afford it. Back then, he received 22,000 yuan for his kidney, which he used to purchase an iPhone 4 and iPad 2, reports

“Why do I need a second kidney? One is enough,” he had asked at the time.

According to CNTV, Wang who dreamt of owning Apple’s iPad 2 was approached by human organ harvesters online, who offered him hard cash for his kidney.

“At the time, I wanted to buy an iPad2, but I didn’t have any money. When I was on the internet, I had a kidney agent send a message, saying that selling a kidney can give me 20,000,” he explained.

Without informing his family, Wang secretly traveled from his home in the eastern Anhui Province to the southern Hunan Province. After the operation was carried out, Wang was sent back home.

Wang’s health started deteriorating immediately after the operation. Unsanitary conditions at the time of surgery and lack of postoperative care are believed to be the reasons behind the development of infection that eventually led to renal failure in his second kidney. Wang’s health condition also forced him to give up on his studies.

According to local China media reports, Wang now spends his days in bed and depends on the dialysis machine to clear his blood of toxins to survive his kidney failure. He is now dependent on social benefits.

In 2012, nine individuals were arrested in connection with the sale, including five surgeons, and were jailed for their involvement. Wang’s family reportedly received $225,000 in compensation the same year.

iTunes 12.8.1 is freezing Safari running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

iTunes 12.8.1 is freezing Safari running on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

Beware! Do not update to iTunes 12.8.1 if you are on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5

iTunes users took to MacRumors ForumsTwitterReddit, and Stack Exchange recently to report that upgrading to iTunes 12.8.1 version is breaking Safari 10.1.2, the latest version of the browser for OS X Yosemite 10.10.5.

Users who updated to iTunes 12.8.1 were greeted with following error message when opening Safari on OS X Yosemite 10.10.5:

“Safari cannot be opened because of a problem.

Check with the developer to make sure Safari works with this version of Mac OS X. You may have to reinstall the application. Be sure to install any available updates for the application and Mac OS X.

One Stack Exchange user was of the opinion that the iTunes 12.8.1 update is likely updating the MobileDevice.framework in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ to a version incompatible with Safari 10.1.2.

However, it now appears that Apple has pulled the iTunes 12.8.1 update. Some users have found a workaround to fix Safari. For that, you need to go the Finder app, click on Go > Go to Folder… in the top menu bar, typing in /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/ and drag MobileDevice.framework to the Trash.

Note: These steps have not been tested by us.

Apple sued for lying about screen size and pixel count in its iPhone X series

Apple accused for lying about screen size and pixel count in its iPhone X series

Apple sued for falsely advertising size and resolution of iPhone X, XS & XS Max

Two Apple users on Friday jointly filed a lawsuit in the U.S. District Court for the Northern Districting of California accusing Apple for making fraudulent claims regarding the screen sizes and pixel counts of the displays in its new iPhone X series (iPhone X, XS, and XS Max) smartphones.

“The pixel deception is rooted in the misrepresentation of the Products’ screens, which do not use true screen pixels,” law offices of David A. Makman representing plaintiffs Christian Sponchiado and Courtney Davis wrote in the 55-page complaint.

“Defendant’s nominal screen pixel resolution counts misleadingly count false pixels as if they were true pixels. This is in contrast to every other iPhone — phones whose screens Defendant directly compares to the iPhone X screen in its effort to mislead consumers into believing that the iPhone X has more pixels (and better screen resolution) than it really does.”

The lawsuit also alleges that Apple made false claims about the true screen size of the iPhone X, which is advertised to be 5.8 inches but is “only about 5.6875 inches” when measured. Apparently, Apple pretended “that the screen does not have rounded corners” or a sensor cutout.

Apple Lawsuit by on Scribd

Further, iPhone X has a lower screen resolution as opposed to the advertised screen resolution of 2436×1125 pixels, says the lawsuit.

“Defendant’s marketing of its Products falsely inflates their screens’ supposed pixel counts, resolutions, and sizes to make the Products seem more appealing to consumers,” the complaint said. “Defendant does so because screen resolution is an important factor to consumers when evaluating smartphones.”

Additionally, Apple has been accused of using deceptive marketing, especially wallpapers to disguise notch on newer iPhones leading potential customers to believe the iPhone XS and iPhone XS Max come without notches.

“Images that disguise the missing pixels on the products’ screens are prominent on the Defendant’s website, as well as in the advertisements of retailers who sell the products. These images were relied on by Plaintiff DAVIS, who believed that the iPhone XS and XS Max would not have a notch at the top of the phone,” the complaint reads.

The plaintiffs are now demanding class-action status for the lawsuit, as well as seeking damages for anyone participating in the class action.

There is no guarantee whether the lawsuit will make it to the court given that class-action lawsuits usually take years to progress. Apple has yet to comment on the issue.

What is Mac Os?

The term Mac OS stands for Macintosh Operating System.

It’s a UNIX based operating system by Apple, exclusively for MacBooks and iMacs.

In the market of Desktops, Laptops, and Home Computers it’s the second most widely used desktop OS after Windows.

Brief History of Mac Os

After the departure of Steve Jobs from Apple, the company suffered a huge loss and board of directors at Apple decided to bring Steve back from NEXT and lead the company on an interim basis.

At WWDC (World Wide Developer’s Conference) when Steve announced that developers really want a modern version of the Mac OS, and Apple is going to deliver it, then he got a huge round of applause from the audience.

This really made Steve and his team work harder on Mac Os and soon they proved that Apple really has a potential.

The first initial Release of Mac Os was on March 24, 2001, which is nearly 17 years ago from now.

And till now Mac OS is improving with every new release.

Myths Related to Mac Os

1. Mac OS is more secure than Windows

Many of you might have heard that Mac Os is more secure than windows. But that’s not true.

The market share of Mac is less than 10% which results in less malware and spyware attacks.

Actually, the main reason behind this is iMac and Macbook.

These two products running on Mac OS which is a bit expensive as compared to windows. So this automatically results in less damage.

2. Mac is built for Artists

Mac Os comes with lots of built-in creative and useful tools as compared to Windows.

For example, iMovie and final cut pro increases the experience of video editing.

But that doesn’t mean that windows are bad.

You can separately download the third party software such as Adobe Premiere or Adobe After effects for a better experience.

Doing this on windows PC will save you lots of hard earned money.

3. Highly Expensive

Yes running a Mac OS device may sound expensive but that’s not fully true.

The cost of materials used in making iMac and MacBook is also very high.

As a result, a user ends up with a high-quality product with maximum durability in terms of both hardware and software.

Apple also spends billions of dollars in R&D (Research and Development) which however included in the cost of the product.

4. Hard to learn and Use

This is the most denied myth by any Mac user because Mac OS feels much more easy to learn and operate as compared with any other Operating System.

It has a very user-friendly user interface.

And also draws everyone’s attention as it is perfectly stacked and organized as compared with windows.

5. No need of Antiviruses for Mac

As we mentioned earlier attackers target Mac OS devices very less compared with windows.

But it doesn’t mean that you don’t need to install any antiviruses on it.

Don’t be fooled by fewer attacks.

As we always hear in the news that some malware attacked on Mac OS. So It’s better to be equipped with safety.

Pros and Cons of Mac Os

Following are some of the Pros (Advantages) and Cons (Disadvantages) of Mac OS.

1. BootCamp

Mac OS has a built-in program called BootCamp.

It allows you to install windows, Linux or any other operating system in addition to OS X.

Setting up the boot camp in OS X is also very easy.

And switching between them is even easier now.

2. Works seamlessly with other Apple devices

As every Apple device is made by Apple itself so the hardware and software are fully controlled by them.

It means they share the same internal working mechanism.

Which implies that the iMessage on iPhone works as smooth as on a MacBook or iMac.

This seamless integration of devices ultimately delivers the best user experience and satisfaction.

3. Fewer Attacks

As we mentioned earlier Apple has only 10% of market share in the desktop OS, which results in fewer attacks.

The amount of Mac users are fairly less as compared to windows.

So this doesn’t make any sense for hackers to attack Mac OS users.

This is somehow can be an advantage for some people as it makes the user feel Mac Os more secure but can be a disadvantage for some others because at the same time it is not as much popular as the windows.

4. Bloatware Free

Almost every windows PC comes with some kind of Bloatware (Pre-installed software) which slows down the PC over time.

But Macbook and iMac makes you free from this worry.

It doesn’t mean that they don’t come with Pre-installed software.

Mac computers have pre-installed software, but only from Apple and they don’t slow down your system as well.

5. Excellent Sleek Design

The biggest advantage of Macbook and iMac is that they are sleek as compared to their competition.

This makes the use of Mac OS more enjoyable.

As a matter of fact, the First MacBook air was the slimmest laptop in the world at that time.

And iMac still continues to be the slimmest desktop version.

6. Mac can read NTFS or FAT

Macs can read NTFS or FAT formatted hard drives whereas Windows can’t read Mac formatted drives.

You need to install third-party program for that in windows.

7. Better Customer service and After Sales support

Apple is very well renowned for it’s best customer service and after sales support.

They have the highest customer satisfaction mark all around the globe.

The staff on stores are well trained and if you got your device damaged they make sure that they provide you with the best possible solution.

1. Less Variety and Options

The biggest disadvantage of Mac OS or we should say MacBook and iMac is that Apple offers very limited variants of them.

Means you need to spend the decided amount by them, only then you can purchase their product otherwise not.

This makes windows a go-to option for those who are looking for some affordable PC or Laptop because of a wide variety of choice.

This thing restricts the buyer from purchasing Apple Mac Product.

2. Non-upgradable

Another major disadvantage of Mac OS powered products is that they are non-upgradable.

Means you can’t increase the amount of RAM, change processor or motherboard, basically, you can’t customize it according to you.

Once you received it, you have to adjust on what you purchased.

3. Worse for playing Games

Many people believe that you can’t play high-end games on Macbook and iMac which is somehow true.

Both of these products are not made for gaming.

They have a very less amount of Graphics Memory which is not enough for Best gaming performance.

So you have to give up on this.

4. Fewer Accessories

As it is not as popular as Windows PCs.

The MacBook and iMac have to suffer from fewer accessories.

There are very less amount of accessories manufacturers who create accessories for them.

This also effects on what could be the potential buyers of Mac.

5. Small Community

Due to fewer sales, the MacBook and iMac people have a very small community as compared to windows users.

Which means you won’t enjoy the support as much you could on Windows PC.

So this was all regarding What is Mac Os? their Pros and Cons and Explanation. If you find it useful then do let us know in the comment section below, we would love to hear that.

Stay tuned for more.

Apple quietly adds TRAI’s DND app to App Store

Apple quietly adds India’s DND app to App Store

Apple adds India’s DND app to avoid iPhone ban in the country

Technology giant Apple’s war with the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has been going on for some time now over the government-approved Do-Not-Disturb (DND) app.

In July, TRAI had threatened to ban iPhones from the country’s mobile networks, if Apple did not approve the DND app by January 2019.

For those unaware, TRAI has designed the Do-Not-Disturb (DND) app, which allows users to report spam marketing as well as promotional messages and calls. While the app has been available on Android since June 2016, Apple had refused to list it on its App Store citing that the app seeks permission to record user’s calls and messages, which is a breach of user’s data privacy.

Now, Apple has finally and quietly introduced the DND app on its iOS App Store, ending the standoff with the telecommunications regulator of India. The app has gone live in the iOS App Store from yesterday, which was confirmed by an Apple spokesperson in India (via VentureBeat).

The ‘TRAI DND – Do Not Disturb’ app allows users to flag unwanted calls and messages. According to some reports, an average person in India receives up to ten unwanted calls and messages in a day.

Once the user registers his or her mobile number, they can use the app to log complaints of unwanted calls and messages, which will be then sent to TRAI. For reported calls, the TRAI will receive information such as caller’s number and time of the call, and all the contents of the SMS for reported SMS.

The description of the TRAI DND app on the App Store reads as below:

TRAI DND App will help consumers to curb unwanted Telemarketing Calls/SMS by reporting to their respective telecom service provider (TSP). With this App, consumers will be able to:

1) Register their mobile number under DND (Do-Not-Disturb)
2) Report spam SMS/Calls, after DND registration.

Registration of mobile number under DND (Do-Not-Register) will take up to 07 days after putting the request with the respective telecom service provider (TSP).

For reporting spam Call/SMS, App will auto-create a complaint registration SMS, for sending it to respective TSP. Complaint registration SMS will be sent to toll-free number 1909.

TRAI DND App will not block any SMS/Calls from authentic businesses/entities that you have subscribed too, e.g your bank, food delivery apps, travel/taxi apps etc. However, the user will be responsible for any loss occurred if they report these Call/SMS.

If you are an iPhone user and wish to download the app, you can click here. In order to install the app, your device should be running the latest version of iOS 12.1.

Apple Working On TV Streaming Dongle To Take On Chromecast, Fire TV Stick

Apple Working On TV Streaming Dongle To Take On Chromecast, Fire TV Stick

Apple to make a low-cost streaming dongle, similar to Google Chromecast and Amazon Fire TV

Apple is reportedly planning to launch an affordable dongle similar to Google’s Chromecast and Amazon’s Fire TV Stick, according to a report by The Information, citing people familiar with the development.

Apparently, Apple who is expected to launch its TV streaming service sometime in 2019 will directly take on the likes of Netflix and Amazon Prime.

The service would be available for free to Apple device owners, which includes the Apple TV, iPhone, and iPad. Also, the dongle would be exclusive to Apple TV, iPhones and iPads only.

With the Apple TV costs $149 for the non-4K model and $179 for the 4K model, it does make sense for the company to come up with its own low-priced dongle and get people to subscribe to their streaming service in order to increase its consumer base.

Apple could either bundle the service as a standalone app or within the existing TV app, suggests rumors. It is expected to include a good mix of original programming content, third-party video services as well as the option to subscribe to TV channel packages.

Apple has already spent more than $1 billion to produce its original content for the TV streaming service.

The streaming service will launch in the U.S. first and will later be made available in more than 100 countries after a few months.

The new TV service is expected to launch sometime in 2019 and will include a TV series by the La La Land director Damien Chazelle, a drama starring Reese Witherspoon and Jennifer Aniston, a children’s show, and a science fiction show by Ron Moore among others.

What do you think about Apple’s low-cost dongle? Do let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.

Apple’s New Patent Hints At In-Display Selfie Camera

Apple’s New Patent Hints At In-Display Selfie Camera

Next Apple iPhone may have a hole in its display, patent reveals

Apple who started the “notch” design standard that saw every other Android OEM incorporating in its smartphone is looking to trend set another legacy.

The Cupertino giant who had filed a patent back in June for a camera cut-out in the display has finally been approved. The patent titled “Integrated Camera Window” was approved by the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) on November 8.

The folks at LetsGoDigital who discovered Apple’s new patent shows an iPhone with a hole for the camera in the display. In other words, Apple is looking to place the iPhone’s front camera under the device’s screen in its future phones, thereby killing the notch design.

With this patent, Apple joins the list of companies such as Samsung, Asus, and LG who have filed similar patents in the past. However, Apple’s patent is a bit different from its contemporaries.

According to the patent, Apple wants to fit the camera window with a ‘cover glass’ where cover glass refers to the display. This display technology is presently applicable only to the LCD screen.

“Apparatus, systems, and methods for camera integration with a cover glass and for processing cover glass to provide a camera window for an electronic device are disclosed. A camera window can be integrated into the cover glass. The apparatus, systems, and methods are especially suitable for cover glasses, or displays (e.g., LCD displays), assembled in small form factor electronic devices such as handheld electronic devices (e.g., mobile phones, media players, personal digital assistants, remote controls, etc.,” the patent description reads.

Besides iPhones, other electronic devices such as portable computers, tablet computers, displays, monitors, televisions as well as iPads, MacBooks, and iMacs could see in-display camera technology soon.

While patents are filed all the time, it is not necessary that every patent is converted into a finished commercial product or even a prototype. Whether or not, Apple will go ahead and implement the display technology in its future devices, only time will tell.

Apple pulls watchOS 5.1 update after multiple reports of bricked devices

Apple Watches bricks after users update to the latest watchOS 5.1, Apple halts the update

All those Apple Watch users who haven’t updated to the latest watchOS 5.1 should refrain from doing so, as Apple has pulled out this software update.

Few users took to Reddit and Twitter to report bricking of Apple Watches after updating to watchOS 5.1. Apparently, the issue seems to only be affecting the new Apple Watch Series 4 models.

After bricking reports, Apple has temporarily removed the watchOS 5.1 software update. In a statement to CNET, Apple said it was aware of the problem and was working on a fix.

“Due to a small number of Apple Watch customers experiencing an issue while installing watchOS 5.1 today, we’ve pulled back the software update as a precaution,” it explained.

“Any customers impacted should contact AppleCare, but no action is required if the update installed successfully. We are working on a fix for an upcoming software update.”

Earlier this week, Apple had released watchOS 5.1 update alongside iOS 12.1. watchOS 5.1 brings support for fall detection, Group FaceTime audio, new emoji, and a new color full-screen watch face. Besides these, the watchOS 5.1 update also included 14 security fixes.

For those who have downloaded the latest watchOS 5.1 update before it was pulled but have not installed it, it is advisable to not do so and wait for Apple to re-release the update.

Apple Releases iOS 12.1 With Group FaceTime, Dual SIM support, New Emojis And More

iOS 12.1 software update for iPhone, iPad brings Group FaceTime, eSIM Support, Real-Time Depth Control and more

Apple on Tuesday released iOS 12.1, the first major update to the iOS 12 operating system, for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch (sixth generation) users. iOS 12. 1 brings new features like Group Facetime, dual SIM support, camera improvements, over 70 new emoji, and more.

Group FaceTime

With iOS 12.1, Group FaceTime is easy to use. Chat with more people than ever before. It adds support for video and audio calls with up to 32 participants at one time, with new camera effect features like filters, stickers, Animoji, and Memoji included.

  • Start Group FaceTime right from a group Messages conversation, or join an active call at any time.
  • FaceTime uses on-device intelligence to display the most prominent speakers on the call, automatically highlighting the current speaker by bringing them to the forefront.
  • All FaceTime conversations are encrypted end-to-end so that your conversations remain private and viewable only by the participants.
  • When calling more than one person, FaceTime displays a notification that lets you instantly join a call without being disruptive.

It is not available in all regions and secondly, older devices, specifically the iPhone 5s, the iPhone 6 and the iPhone 6 Plus, will only support the Group FaceTime feature in audio only. Further, devices like iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPad Air will also not support video Group FaceTime calls. Group FaceTime with video works on all other devices with an A8X processor or later.

Dual SIM support

With iOS 12.1, iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR are the first iPhones to get Dual SIM support, featuring a nano-SIM and digital eSIM. eSIM is a digital SIM that lets you activate a cellular plan from a carrier without having to use a physical nano-SIM. For more information about setting up Dual SIM, you can visit

Depth Control in Camera

The iOS update introduces a new real-time Depth Control feature, for iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, and iPhone XR that allows you to dynamically adjust the depth of field in real-time preview allowing more control to create portraits with a beautiful background blur.

Portrait mode with Depth Control is also available on the TrueDepth camera for selfies, which includes Memoji and faster face tracking support for third-party ARKit apps.

New Emojis

iOS 12.1 brings over more than 70 new emojis to iPhones and iPads that can be instantly used in messages, emails, and even social media compositions. These include new characters with red hair, gray hair and curly hair, new emoji for bald people, more emotive smiley faces like woozy face, pleading face, and additional emoji representing animals, food to sports and real-life representations.

  • Addresses an issue that prevented some voicemails from appearing in the Phone app.
  • Resolves an issue in the Phone app that could cause phone numbers to appear without their corresponding contact name.
  • Fixes an issue that could prevent Screen Time from reporting specific websites in the activity report.
  • Addresses an issue that could prevent adding or removing family members from Family Sharing.
  • Adds a performance management feature to prevent the device from unexpectedly shutting down, including the option to disable this feature if an unexpected shutdown occurs, for iPhone X, iPhone 8 and iPhone 8 Plus.
