Microsoft has begun rolling out a major update to its Copilot app on Windows, giving users a powerful new way to interact with the AI (artificial intelligence) assistant.
โWe are beginning to roll out an update for the Microsoft Copilot app on Windows via the Microsoft Store. This Copilot app update (version 1.25071.125 and higher) is beginning to roll out across all Insider Channels via the Microsoft Store,โย the Microsoft Copilot team announced in a blog post on Tuesday.
Letโs have a look at the two features introduced via the update to Copilot Vision:
Desktop Share
Starting this week, Windows Insiders will start receiving a new update via the Microsoft Store (version 1.25071.125 and above) that introduces Desktop Share โ a feature that allows Copilot to see and respond to everything happening on your screen in real time.
In other words, Copilot can now view your entire desktopโnot just a specific app or browser windowโand offer real-time help. Once enabled, the AI can analyze whatever is on your screen and provide insights, tips, answer your questions, and help as you work.
โGet tips on making improvements to your creative project, help with improving your resume, or guidance while navigating a new game,โ says Microsoft.
To use the feature, click the glasses icon in Copilotโs composer window, select the desktop or window that you would like to share, and start the conversation. To stop sharing, just hit the โStopโ or โXโ button at any time on the composer, giving you full control over what Copilot sees.
Access Vision From Your Voice Conversation
Microsoft has also made Vision easier to access during voice conversations with Copilot. It has added a second layer of convenience: voice-enabled desktop sharing.
For instance, if you are already talking to Copilot and want to show the AI assistant what you are working on, you can simply click the glasses icon mid-conversation and start sharing your screen instantly, giving Copilot complete visual context to better assist you.
Availability And Rollout
The new features are part of Copilot version 1.25071.125 and higher, and are now rolling out via the Microsoft Store to Windows Insiders across all preview channels. However, the rollout is gradual and currently limited to markets where Windows Vision is supported, so not every Insider will see it right away.
If you are an Insider and have the new update, Microsoft is encouraging you to share your Copilot experience on Windows. To provide feedback, just click your profile icon within the Copilot app and select โGive feedback.โ
This expansion of Copilot Vision marks a significant step forward in Microsoftโs plan to make AI a deeply integrated part of the Windows experience, transforming Copilot from a simple chatbot into a real-time, context-aware assistant.
