Apple Launches iPhone 16e With A18 Chip At $599

Apple officially added the iPhone 16e, a top-of-the-line feature-packed affordable smartphone, to its iPhone 16 lineup on Wednesday, making it an attractive choice for customers looking for premium performance at a reasonable price.

This new budget-friendly smartphone comes with Appleโ€™s latest A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, impressive battery life, Appleโ€™s ground-breaking satellite features, and much more.

โ€œiPhone 16e packs in the features our users love about the iPhone 16 lineup, including breakthrough battery life, fast performance powered by the latest-generation A18 chip, an innovative 2-in-1 camera system, and Apple Intelligence,โ€ said Kaiann Drance, Appleโ€™s Vice President of Worldwide iPhone Product Marketing. โ€œWeโ€™re so excited for iPhone 16e to complete the lineup as a powerful, more affordable option to bring the iPhone experience to even more people.โ€

Hereโ€™s everything you need to know about the new iPhone 16e:

Design And Display

The iPhone 16e features a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display with an edge-to-edge design, making it perfect for watching HDR videos, playing games, and reading crisp text.

It has a 120Hz refresh rate, providing fluid scrolling and an immersive viewing experience.

Processor

The iPhone 16e is powered by Appleโ€™s latest-generation A18 chip and supports Apple Intelligence, the company’s suite of AI features.

The 6-core CPU in this new smartphone is up to 80 percent faster than the A13 Bionic chip on iPhone 11. It also features a 4-core GPU and 16-core Neural Engine.

This is the first iPhone that uses C1โ€”the first modem designed by Apple. According to the tech giant, it is โ€œthe most power-efficient modem ever on an iPhone.โ€ It makes iPhones connect to 5G faster and more reliably while using less power.

Camera

One of the standout features of the iPhone 16e is its innovative โ€œ2-in-1โ€ camera system. It has only a 48MP rear camera and an integrated 2x Telephoto, equivalent to having two cameras in one so that users can zoom in with optical quality.

On the front, the smartphone sports a 12MP sensor.

The iPhone 16e can also record stunning videos in 4K with Dolby Vision up to 60 frames per second (fps). It also records video in Spatial Audio for immersive listening with AirPods, Apple Vision Pro, or a surround sound system.

Battery

The iPhone 16e has a lithium-ion battery that promises up to 26 hours of video playback on a single charge.

The smartphoneโ€™s battery lasts up to six hours more than an iPhone 11 and up to 12 hours longer than any iPhone SE model.

Other Features

Other key features include the iconic notch, a USB-C port, MagSafe wireless charging, and Ceramic Shield glass. It also features the Action button, which users can use to access visual intelligence to learn about objects and places around them.

Further, the device is splash, water, and dust resistant with an IP68 rating (maximum depth of 6 meters up to 30 minutes).

It also includes satellite-based communication features, such as Emergency SOS, Roadside Assistance, and Messages via satellite.

Also, it has a Crash Detection feature that can detect a severe car crash and automatically dial emergency services in case of a severe car accident.

In addition, the iPhone 16e will be running on Appleโ€™s latest operating system, iOS 18.

Price and Availability

The iPhone 16e will be available in two color options, White and Black, with 128GB, 256GB, and 512GB storage capacities.

The price starts at $599 for the 128GB variant.

Pre-orders for the iPhone 16e start on February 21 in 59 countries, with availability beginning on February 28.
