BitTorrent Sync 2.0 with its much awaited Pro features is now available for public.

BitTorrent Sync 2.0 drops its beta tag goes public.

BitTorrent has upgraded its 1.4 version to Sync 2.0 and has introduced a number of features to make it more advanced and compete against its various competitors like the Google Drive and Drop Box. BitTorrent has dropped the beta tag and is now made available to public along with its additional Pro features.

Sync was invented to build a simple tool to transfer files directly between the devices through a Cloud however not keeping it on the Cloud or  any third party. Sync gives full control to manage the data along with transferring the big files with ease and speed. The new version Sync 2.0 has all the features of its earlier 1.4  version like sharing folders across all platforms securely and with visibility into who has access with some additional features which will be useful for IT professionals  and power users.

Sync 2.0 introduces Pro features which is the major attraction of this version, additional Pro features are as follows:

  • The ability to share folders and files in the terabyte range
  • Additional Folder permissions and ownership controls for individual users
  • It gives access only to the specific files rather than the entire folder
  • Automated syncing across devices
  • Priority technical support
  • Lower Price: As compared to the Google Drive and Drop Box which charges a rate of $80 the Syn Pro will cost $39.99 per year. Also for the first month it will be given free of charge for users to check its features. BitTorrent does not use large centralized servers and hence it able to give its service at a much lower cost.

There are various benefits of using BitTorrent Sync 2.0 : Internet connectivity is not required and user can send files from P2P i.e. peer to peer device if they are on the same local network. It is much faster as there are no third party interference like the need to store the data in between, as its direct transfer of data. Since it is direct path for sharing the files its easier to share very huge files with much ease.

With BitTorrent user not only share files within a team but also within  different devices like laptop to smartphone. With BitTorrent and internet connections huge files can also be transferred anywhere on the globe at much faster rate. And not forgetting the security of files, since there is no third party involved and it is device to device the chances of hacking is very less and also the files are authenticated via encrypted key pairs that are shared directly between devices. BitTorrent by itself does not have any access to the files. One most important thing to remember would be that the while using BitTorrent user needs to maintain a storage server as BitTorrent will not provide a storage and it only helps to send the files through devices.

Core Sync 2.0 is available for free for all the users and Sync Pro is  free for first 30 days to all users. Later on users will be charged.

BitTorrent Sync 2.0 works for Windows, Mac, FreeBSD and Linux. You can also download the updated Android and iOS Apps. For more details users can check out BitTorrent’s guide here.

Sync is planning to roll out its Alpha version also very soon maybe by end of 2015 for users who have to manage a lot of heavy files.
