Facebook glitch helps man find his true love

Man accidentally logins into Facebook page of a stranger that leads him to the true love of his life

Everybody is in search of true love these days. How about you finding your love by accident? Yes, that’s what happened when a man met the love of his life on Facebook after somehow accidentally logging into her account.

Exactly six years ago, in October 2009, Arkansas native Schuler Benson switched his flip phone on to find it was logged in to a female stranger’s Facebook account from Colorado. The woman, Celeste Zendler, had no mutual friends and he had never seen or even heard of her before.

Similarly, Benson was puzzled as to why he was on the social media page of someone who lives 1,000 miles away from him in Colorado and with whom he has no mutual friends. Due to some sort of Facebook glitch, Benson was stuck and not able to get out of Zendler’s account.

Benson took to Imgur to explain his story: “In 2009 while living in South Arkansas, I used a flip-phone to log into my Facebook account.

“I opened the browser, went to facebook.com, and wasn’t even given a chance to enter any login information.

“I was already logged in. I had to make several posts in order to find out I wasn’t logged into my own account.

“Turns out, I was in the account of a nice lady named Celeste, who lived in Boulder, Colorado.

“She and I had never met, never lived in the same state, had no mutual friends in real life or online, shared no Facebook interests.”

Benson posted on October 3, 2009 from the mobile Facebook app and wrote the status update: ‘is wondering who the hell Celeste is and why i’m logged into her fb account.’

He later posted another update: ‘How do you log out of fb mobile? I’m not celeste and i have no idea how i got on here,’ he posted the same day.

After they both understood what was going on, the two started chatting via status updates on Zendler’s Facebook page as they tried to figure out how to get Benson logged out of Zendler’s account.

After several troubleshooting attempts, Zendler sent Benson a friend request, which finally allowed him to log out of her account for good.

Celeste posted her own message on her page: ‘wants to know how some stranger managed to log into my account without meaning to?? way to go facebook!,’ she wrote on October, 4, 2009.

Zendler intended to remove Benson as a friend a few days later. However, Benson explained, sharing their story on imgur: “It turns out we had a lot in common.

“Like, a LOT in common. We became close friends online, and finally met in person in June of 2013.

“In the fall of 2013, she relocated from Colorado to live with me in Arkansas.”

The couple got engaged a year later when Benson hacked Zendler’s Facebook account to post a picture of an engagement ring.

Schuler Benson and Celeste Benson, formerly Celeste Zendler, who now both live in South Carolina got married on June 21, six years after Schuler tried to sign onto Facebook on his flip phone and due to some glitch was on Celeste’s page instead.

Benson until today has no idea how he got logged into Zendler’s account in the first place, but he’s definitely glad he did.

He added: “I found my partner, my best friend, my great love via a simple glitch in social media. There are awful things in this world, but sometimes there’s beauty, too.

“This is my beauty.”
