Fancy, a portable desktop computer Running Chromium OS, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS and Android TV and powered by AMD 5350 Quad-Core x86 processor

Imagine a desktop computer, that too a portable one, being run on both Chromium OS and Linux and allowing to watch you Android TV as well. Dylan Callahan has made that possible by fusing all these three independent features into one computer called Fancy Computer.

Dylan Callahan works with the Chromium OS for All SBCs projects and thought of Fancy as a desktop computer which could bring best features of Chromium, Ubuntu and Android TV on a single platform. And Fancy Computer does just that.

Fancy is also a powerful desktop computer which is surprisingly small. It is the size of a regular cable modem or wireless router and it’s easy to carry anywhere you want. Add to the small form factor, Fancy Computer comes pre-installed with the latest Chromium OS, Ubuntu 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus), and Android TV 6.0 Marshmallow making it a complete desktop.

“I wanted Fancy to be the jack of all trades. I wanted to create a computer “to fit your mood.” After a long day, watch Netflix on Android TV, or if you need to be focused while working switch to using Chromium OS, and, if you want to tinker, use Ubuntu,” said Dylan Callahan told Softpedia.

Fancy Configuration

Fancy Desktop Edition is powered by AMD 5350 Quad-Core x86 processor running at 2.05 GHz with a 4K-capable AMD Radeon graphics chip, using an MSI AM1I Mini-ITX AM1 motherboard in an Antec ISK 110 VESA desktop case with a 90W power supply. It will be running on 4GB DDR3 RAM which makes it a powerful desktop.

For connectivity Fancy Desktop Edition will have two USB 3.0 ports, an HDMI port, a DVI-D port, a VGA port, a Gigabit Wireless Intel 7260 802.11a/b/g/n/ac PCIe network adapter, and Bluetooth 4.0.

Fancy is neat and its dimensions are 8.70″ x 3.10″ x 8.40″. As of now Fancy Desktop Edition is available only to buyers in United States and will cost $225 plus shipping without external LCD monitor. Dylan told Softpedia that they are working on a Laptop and should be available by end of the year.

  1. There seems to be no storage device specs included in the article or mentioned even when you pursue the BUY links. I there a hard drive and/or a solid state hard drive?
