Developer to port Ubuntu Touch onto OnePlus 3

The UBports team will port Ubuntu Touch to OnePlus 3

If all goes according to the UBports team’s plans, OnePlus 3 may unofficially be powered by Ubuntu Touch. Ubuntu developer,  Marius GripsgÃ¥rd from UBports.com told Softpedia that they had acquired a OnePlus 3 and would soon be porting Ubuntu Touch onto it.

GripsgÃ¥rd has already put a special page UBports.com website where he has codenamed his upcoming venture as “op3.”

One Plus has recently released its latest flagship iteration, OnePlus 3 smartphone. OnePlus 3 boasts a pretty decent configuration with 5-inch Super AMOLED capacitive touchscreen with Full HD (1080×1920) resolution and a Qualcomm MSM8996 Snapdragon 820 chipset.

The smartphone is powered by Dual-Core 2.15 GHz Kryo and Dual-Core 1.6 GHz Kryo CPUs, as well as the Adreno 530 GPU. Marius Gripsgård has told us that he is thrilled that OnePlus 3 has 6 GB of RAM, which makes the device perfect for convergence.

For connectivity OnePlus 3 has Wi-Fi 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac and Bluetooth 4.2 LE connectivity, A-GPS, GLONASS, and BDS GPS support. It has 64 GB internal storage, a 16 MP f/2.0 front camera capable of 2160p@30fps video recording, and a fingerprint reader.

If you are Linux fan, you can also run Ubuntu mobile OS on it. We will be posting a separate tutorial for the same.
