Hence, the name “Holika Dehan” and “Holi”.
Another popular story behind Holi is that of the greatest God of Hindu mythology namely Lord Krishna. The actual story of Holi dates back to his childhood. A Hindu Goddess Radha was a beautiful lady and Lord Krishna loved her. Unlike Radha, Lord Krishna had dark blue skin. As a result, he was afraid that Radha might not accept his love.
In order to resolve this problem, he sought his mother’s help and asked for her advice. His mother suggested him to play with Radha and paint her face in whatever color he wanted to. Soon, Lord Krishna went to Radha and threw different colors at her.
He even mixed some of the colors with water and threw them at Goddess Radha using a tool. This tool is now referred to as Pichkari and its used by both kids and adults to play Holi. In conclusion, we can say that Holi is a festival of love that celebrates the immortal love of Radha and Krishna.
