Hundred of listening devices planted by anti-NSA pranksters prop up in New York in cafes, under benches, in shops, restaurants and bars
A group of pranksters with anti-NSA agenda are planting listening devices in public places across New York, saying that they are โgathering information to help win the war on terror.โ
The devices can be found everywhere in New York โ in cafes, under benches, in shops, restaurants and bars.
โEavesdropping on the population has revealed many saying, โIโm not doing anything wrong so who cares if the NSA tracks what I say and do?โโ the group, dubbed โWe Are Always Listening,โwrote on its website.
The pranksters say that theyย โdonโt seem to mind this monitoring.โ
โ[So] weโre hiding recorders in public places in hopes of gathering information to help win the war on terror. We’ve started with NYC as a pilot program, but hope to roll the initiative out all across The Homeland.โ

As soon as the recordings are made public to promote “greater transparency,” ย the pranksters say that they are โdeclassifying excerpts from the recordings and highlighting.โ ย Each recording on the website has the location, terrorism status and device status.
The recordings which are put up on the website contain rather mundane information from cheating to conversations with personal coaches and job interviews.
