Wrongly believing that the cash machine had swallowed her card, a frustrated woman rips apart ATM in China
It was no less than a dramatic scene at a subway station in Changchun, China, capital of Jilin Province, where the incident took place on Thursday.
An annoyed and impatient customer tore apart the frame off ATM with her bare hands as she mistakenly believed that it had swallowed her debit card.
According to People’s Daily Online, the woman, who is unnamed, in a fit of anger, started hitting the machine in public in an attempt to get her card back. She screamed at the machine to give back her card and also asked the passers-by for help. However, no cards were found in the ATM in Jilin province, according to bank clerks. The woman has been taken for psychiatric testing to the local mental facility.
The woman became more and more upset and asked passers-by to help her find her card, after she had pulled off the machineโs frame and found the receipt paper under it.
Even though many people called the police for help, one man viciously fooled the woman into shouting at the ATM in the hope that it would give her card back, according to a report by China Youth Daily.
The whole incident lasted for around 10 minutes as shown in the surveillance footage.
According to the media, a member of staff at the ATMโs bank, who has not been named, was astonished that anyone could tear apart the front of the machine.
Many people said that the woman had stated that two months earlier the same ATM had swallowed her card and had placed a number of small objects through the card slot.
The woman after the incident has been taken to a local mental facility as the police instructed that she undergo a psychiatric assessment.
Last year, in a similar incident, a woman ripped apart a machine in Dongguan in the Chinese province of Guandong.
In this case, a spokesperson for the shopping centre in which the event took place, said that the woman might have been able to tear the machine apart as it had been in use for a long time.
