Canvas Knight 2, the first flagship 4G/LTE smartphone launched by Micromax for Rs.16,999
Today, Micromax, India’s leading smartphone maker launched its flagship device of 2015, Canvas Knight 2 with a price tag of Rs. 16,299 (about $245), nearly a year after launching Canvas Knight.
Vineet Taneja, chief executive officer, Micromax Informatics, commenting at the launch said โConsumer demand is constantly shifting towards devices offering multitasking capabilities, 24ร7 data connectivity with increased video consumption and real-time mobility solutions.โ
By offering a new Airtel 4G SIM card and a โdouble dataโ deal from Airtel, the company plans to attract customers. The user who activates the provided number can take advantage of the โdealโ benefits by getting twice the amount of 4G data they pay for. In addition, few popular apps come pre-installed on the android phone that include Snapdeal, Hotstar, Newshunt, SwiftKey and Chaatz .
“With the launch of our new device Canvas Knight 2, the first in the 4G range, we are looking at driving the next wave of internet evolution in the country. Over the next few months, we are all set to launch a series of 4G LTE enabled devices across a range of price points each addressing unique needs of the Indian consumer,โ he further added.
The Micromax Canvas Knight 2 features a 5-inch HD AMOLED display with 1280 x 720 pixels of resolution. The smartphone is powered by a 64-bit 1.5GHz Snapdragon 615 octa-core processor with four cores at 1.5 GHz and four at 1GHz coupled with 2GB of RAM. It runs Android 5.0 Lollipop operations system.
On the storage front, the smartphone has up to 16 GB of internal storage capacity, which can be further expandable via a microSD card up to 32 GB, class 10 memory card.
On the camera front, it is equipped with a 5 megapixel of a fixed focus secondary image snapper with Omnivision OV5648 sensor for selfie lovers. Further, it comes with a 13 megapixel of rear camera with autofocus, Sony IMX214 CMOS sensor, and Largan 5P lens that offers a sharp and decent contrast images.
Moreover, the smartphone comes with a non-removable 2260 mAh battery, which the company claims can offer 335 hours on standby or talk time of up to 7 hours 45 minutes. The smartphone will be available in two color variants, White and Black.
In addition, both the front and back of the device comes with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection to prevent it from falling prey to bumps and nicks, which in turn makes it look like a brand new phone even after a long term usage. Further, audio of the phone is powered by Cirus Logic Wolfson Stereo WM8998.
Micromax’s latest flagship smartphone is set to face a tough competition in the market, as there are many devices that are available with almost similar specifications couple with lower price. Among these, the recently launched Mi4i and Phicomm Passion 660 are available at Rs. 12,999 and Rs. 10,999 respectively.
Starting June 10, Canvas Knight 2 will be available for sale at local retail stores and e-commerce websites.
