Is YIFY/YTS dead? Indications are that it may never make a comeback

It has been a week since we reported that YTS was hit by a DDoS attack and was offline. In this week, nothing has really changed. YTS is still offline and its associated movie release group YIFY hasn’t put out any new films either.

What is more important is that there is no information from YIFY/YTS on when it will be back. Torrent websites suffer from DDoS attacks and outages all the time be they seldom last this long.

YIFY entered into the torrents website scene in 2010 by publishing their work directly to torrent sites. YIFY, which later rebranded to YTS, even started its own torrent website featuring high quality releases of the latest movies.

The group amassed a huge following and earlier this year its website generated millions of pageviews per day. All had been hunky dory for YTS and its legion of followers till last week when it started serving a blank page instead of torrents. The sudden disappearance is very unusual because the website had never suffered more than a few hours of downtime before.

TorrentFreak says it tried to contact the YTS admin over emails but they remained unanswered. “This is atypical as YTS was known to be very responsive,” says TF post.

YTS’s disappearance assumes importance because it coincides the shutting down of Popcorn Time fork after some problems between the developers. One thing is for sure, unless YTS/YIFY indicates otherwise, torrent lovers will have find some other website for their torrents.
