Google gifts a Easter Egg on the eve of Star Wars release

Google search has got a fantastic new Star Wars Easter Egg

It seems that the Google engineering team is gripped with Star Wars mania. Following on from yesterday’s ‘Jedi or Dark Side’ browser tool kit, Google has come up with another celebration of Star Wars’ return in the form of one of its ‘type this into Google’ Easter eggs, and this one’s particularly slick.

Search for ‘a long time ago in a galaxy far far away’, and the phrase displays as rolling yellow-on-black text in deep space, mimicking the classic intro to every Star Wars movie. The search results even have a background score. Hit the sound button you can listen to the John Williams’ original score.

The Easter Egg results are little hard to click on but the fun is in seeing the search results slide away on the PC screen.

Star Wars: The Force Awakens opens in cinemas on 17 December in the UK and 18 December in the US.
