Apple yesterday uncovered a new smaller addition to its handset range, the iPhone SE. While the launch of the iPhone SE raised many questions, the one that was perplexing the minds of the majority of Apple fans was this: what does the โSEโ in iPhone SE stand for?
Twitter was grappled with many suggestions pouring in as to what does โSEโ stand for in iPhone SE. However, all those were laid to rest when Apple’s Phil Schiller told Jason Cipriani from Fortune that ‘SE’ stands for ‘Special Edition’.

While iPhone SE might be both smaller and lower-cost than its flagship iPhone lineup, it doesnโt mean that the device is not important. The company’s move to give a lower-cost iPhone also offers a glimpse into a maturing smartphone market.

The iPhone SE sports a 4-inch display screen. It also includes latest specifications such as a 64bit A9 Apple processor, 12 MP Camera, 4K video capture, Apple Pay, VoLTE and more. With a starting price of $399, the phone is $250 less than the starting price of its flagship iPhone 6s.
Orders for the new device begin this Thursday and shipments begin on March 31. By the end of May, Apple said the phone will already be available in over 100 countries.
