Lenovo unveils two compact Windows 10-powered desktop ready for VR gaming

Lenovo announces two VR ready Windows 10 desktop gaming systems

The last few years has seen the sales and market share of laptopsโ€™ decline. Thanks to the arrival of smartphones, tablets and phablets. As a result, companies have been periodically launching powerful gaming laptops keeping the requirement of the gamers in mind.

Now, Lenovo, the company, best known for ThinkPad and Yoga laptops, has unveiled two Windows 10 desktop PCs at the Gamescom event in Cologne, Germany yesterday that emphasize gaming power and virtual reality experience on the go: the IdeaCentre Y710 Cube and IdeaCentre AIO Y910.

โ€œWith VR, live streaming and lifelike visuals that dwarf consoles, PC gamers have completely new ways to experience and immerse themselves in games today,โ€ said Johnson Jia, Lenovoโ€™s Senior Vice President, PC & Smart Device Business Group, in a statement. โ€œOur new IdeaCentre Y710 Cube and IdeaCentre AIO Y910 gaming desktops are the products of years of listening to the growing ways and places in which gamers choose to play, giving them even more freedom with these unique, space-saving forms.โ€

IdeaCentre Y710 Cube:

This latest small gaming PC from Lenovo is crammed into a compact 16-pound cube. The VR-ready IdeaCentre Y710 Cube desktop comes with a built-in carry handle for easy transport between gaming stations. The compact cube form factor is small, weighs only 7.4 kilograms. It comes with a 6th-gen Intel i7 CPU, Nvidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics, up to 32GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD storage or 2TB hard disk. It can support 4K gaming, VR, and high-quality streaming.

The IdeaCentre Y710 Cube comes with a KillerTM DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi, Windows 10 Home, and integrated Dolby Audio. The Cube also comes with the option of an integrated Xbox One Wireless receiver with one Xbox One controller and has support for up to eight Xbox One controllers. Further, the Lenovo Y Series Gaming Mechanical Keyboard and Precision Mouse can be added as options. There are connections for HDMI and VGA, but only one piece. Further, there are four USB ports โ€” two 3.0 ports on the front, one 3.0 and one 2.0 port on the back.

Starting at $1,299.99, the IdeaCentre Y710 Cube with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 will be available from October 2016.

IdeaCentre AIO Y910:

The all-in-one system has a 27-inch Quad HD (2560ร—1440) borderless display with 144Hz refresh rate and 5 millisecond response time along with a removable back panel to access core components. It comes with a 6th-gen Intel i7 CPU, Nvidia latest GeForce GTX 1080 or AMD Radeon RX 460 graphics chip, up to 32GB of RAM, and a 256GB SSD storage or 2TB hard disk. It has twin five-watt Harman Kardon stereo speakers, Windows 10 Home and Killer DoubleShot Pro Wi-Fi.

Starting at $1,799.99, the IdeaCentre AIO Y910 with Nvidia GeForce GTX 1070 will also be available from October 2016.
