Super Mario Run to launch on December 15 on iOS devices

Super Mario Run Launching On December 15 For $9.99

Nintendo’s gaming icon, Mario, will appear on iPhone in the form of an auto-runner game called Super Mario Run, announced the company. Super Mario Run, which is Nintendo’s first mobile outing, will launch for iOS devices on December 15th. However, there is no news as to when the game will arrive on the Android platform.

From the press release:

The first-ever mobile game featuring the most iconic video game hero of all time goes on sale for iPhone and iPad on Dec. 15 in United States time zones. Super Mario Run can be downloaded from the App Store at no cost, and players can try elements of the game’s three modes for free.

“The wait is almost over for a Super Mario game that can be played on mobile devices,” said Doug Bowser, Nintendo of America’s Senior Vice President of Sales and Marketing. “Developed under the direction of Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto,Super Mario Run brings a new take on the series’ beloved action-platforming gameplay to iPhone and iPad for the first time.”

Super Mario Run will be compatible with iPhone, iPad and iPod touch running iOS 8.0 and above and will support English, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Italian, Dutch, Russian and traditional Chinese language options.

The game that includes three different modes will be available in 151 countries next month, and you will be able to download it from the App Store for free. However, if you want access to the full game, you will have to make a single In-App Purchase of $9.99 (£7.99) that will unlock all three game modes and provide unlimited access to each of them in this release. The three modes let you challenge courses and collect coins, challenge player ghost data of your friends, and finally create your own Mushroom Kingdom using the coins and Toads collected from these modes.

Super Mario Run is the first Super Mario Bros. game developed specifically for mobile devices. In the game, Mario runs forward on his own, but a tap makes him hop, while pressing the screen makes him leap farther and longer, pull off stylish moves, stamping enemies, collect coins and reach the flagpole to complete courses.
