Plex for Kodi is free for all users now

Plex for Kodi is now available for free; doesnโ€™t require subscription

In December last year, Plex released a new Kodi add-on, which will allow Plex users to be able to experience and enjoy their content right from Kodi. However, in order to enjoy the service, one had to be a Plex Pass subscriber that costed $4.99 a month. Not anymore!!!

Plex has gone ahead and quietly updated its Kodi add-on removing the requirement for a Plex Pass and has made its web-based media server completely free.

“The Plex for Kodi add-on gives users the best of both worlds; the advanced customization of Kodi home theater and the beauty and simplicity of Plex for access on any device, anywhere, anytime,” the appโ€™s website states.

โ€œA dedicated device running Kodi and the Plex for Kodi add-on gives you a slick, configurable way to play your media in your home theatre. Kodi AV settings enable powerfully advanced knob twisting and lever sliding to fine tune playback for a customized viewing experience! Settings nirvana!โ€ it further explains.

While you will be able to access your media collection hosted on a Plex Media Server through the Kodi app, some features still remain unavailable, if you don’t have a subscription. For instance, additional features such as audio fingerprinting, support for multiple user accounts, and parental controls are only accessible if you have a premium pass subscription.

You can download Plex for Kodi from the add-ons repository.
