Samsung has added the newly launched T7 Shield Portable SSD to its portfolio of high-performance and profoundly portable SSDs.
As the name suggests, the new T7 Shield Portable SSD is meant to withstand rough usage in challenging workspaces.
The SSD is IP65-rated, which means you won’t lose any data if the SSD comes in contact with dust or water. Additionally, it can easily survive drops from up to three meters.
The T7 Shield features a grippy rubber coating inherently that makes it more rugged. Furthermore, the rubber coating keeps the SSD cool when reading or writing large files.
The SSD weighs around 98 grams and for those interested in dimensions the SSD is 88 x 59 x 13mm (3.5 x 2.3 x 0.5 inches). T7 Shield Portable SSD is available in three color variants namely blue, beige, and black.
As far as the internal hardware is concerned, the new T7 Shield Portable SSD is similar to the regular T7 SSD offered by Samsung. Based on their requirements, users can get either 1TB or 2TB storage capacity.
According to Samsung, the SSD can provide up to 1,050MB/s read and 1,000MB/s write speeds. These speeds are around 1.9x faster than SATA-based portable SSDs.
The SSD supports most mainstream operating systems like Windows 7, macOS 10.10, and Android 5.0 or higher.
The Samsung T7 Shield Portable SSD is available worldwide and the 1TB variant retails for $159.99. On the other hand, the 2TB variant costs $289.99. As for accessories you get USB-C to USB-C cable as well as a USB-C to USB-A cable.
Clearly, the SSD is ideal for creative professionals who work in rough environments and need high-speed storage.
