Sony Launches Noise Canceling WH-1000XM5 Headphones

Sony Electronics Inc. on Thursday launched its new premium edition of wireless, noise-canceling 1000X series headphones – the WH-1000XM5. The WH-1000X line-up is particularly applauded for its unparalleled Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) capabilities.

Launched almost two years after the popular predecessor WH-1000XM4, the all-new Sony WH-1000XM5 brings a whole new immersive, distraction-free sound experience to its users.

Thanks to the two processors controlling eight microphones (four more than the previous model), which reduces the frequency, and automatically optimizes noise cancelation especially in the mid and high frequencies depending on the surroundings, thereby creating an immersive listening environment.

Further, the WH-1000XM5 headphones unlock the full potential of Sony’s HD Noise Canceling Processor QN1 with the help of the Integrated Processor V1.

In terms of design, the WH-1000XM5 headphones feature a soft fit, synthetic leather material on the headband that takes the pressure off the users’ ears and blocks out external noise giving an all-day, discomfort-free listening experience.

The headphones pack a new specially designed 30mm driver unit that enhances noise canceling and improves sound clarity and bass reproduction.

It also includes Sony’s DSEE Extreme technology, which upscales compressed audio files to near high-resolution sound quality. Besides, there is support for Sony’s LDAC audio codec, SBC, and AAC.

Moving further, users can enjoy music videos with immersive 360 Reality Audio sound, as the WH-1000XM5 are 360 Reality Audio Certified5 headphones.

Additionally, the headphones offer an impressive up to 30 hours of battery life with active noise cancelation (ANC) on and 40 hours with ANC off. It reaches a remarkable three hours’ worth of charge in just three minutes using USB Power Delivery (PD).

The WH-1000XM5 headphones are also Google Assistant and Alexa compatible. Other features include Google Fast Pair and Windows Swift Pair support, Adaptive Sound Control, Quick Access, Speak-to-Chat, multi-device connection, and more.

The new headphones come with a handy collapsible carrying case for easy storage whenever traveling. It also comes with a 3.5mm headphone jack cable.

The new Sony WH-1000XM5 headphones are available in two colors: black and silver for $399.99, which is $50 more than the WH-1000XM4. You can pre-order the new headphones from Sony.com, Amazon, and Best Buy with sales beginning on May 20, 2022.
