Want a phone that looks a lot similar to the recently released and much talked about Nothing Phone (1), an Android smartphone from a company started by OnePlus ex-chief Carl Pei.
Enter Dbrand, the well-known accessory maker that deals in skins and cases for smart devices, has announced a new set of smartphone skins called “Something”, which replicates the geometric white and grey design of the Nothing Phone (1).
For the unversed, the Nothing Phone (1) is a unique design smartphone that standouts for the transparent back panel with 900 LED lights. The company calls this lighting setup as Glyph Interface. The transparent back panel of the smartphone lets you look at some of the internal parts, including LEDs that flash if you receive a call, message, signals app notifications, charging status, and more.

“Minimalism for the masses”, Dbrand writes on its product page.
“Imagine trying to break into the smartphone market. Turns out, having less money than Apple makes it a little difficult. Availability? Limited. Supply? Constrained.
“Even with a design so compelling that people pay ridiculous markups at StockX, nobody can get their hands on your fancy new flashlight. To top it all off, the assholes at Dbrand have parroted your design and are making it for the competition.”
With the Something skins, the vinyl skin maker has not only apparently taken a dig at Nothing but also plagiarised their design. Well, that’s not what Dbrand thinks.
“Some might accuse us of theft. Here’s our counter: we stole nothing. After all, we’ve spent a lot of time looking at internal hardware thanks to our Teardown initiative. As a result, we’re uniquely qualified to rip off an industrial design aesthetic and ‘creatively reinterpret’ it for other devices. That’s not theft – it’s plagiarism, which is definitely not a crime. We checked,” the company adds on its website.
Coming back to the Dbrand ‘Something’ accessories, the skins and cases are currently available only for three premium devices: the iPhone 13 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, and Google Pixel 6 Pro. However, the skin does not come with LED lights like Nothing Phone (1).
The Dbrand Something Skin is priced at $24.95 for all the smartphone models, while the cases retail at $54.90 for the iPhone 13 Pro Max and $49.90 for the Google Pixel 6 Pro and Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra.
You can buy Something skins and cases through Dbrand’s official website. Dbrand has also planned to release Something skins for the Nintendo Switch and Steam Deck as well as for other smartphone models depending on the demand.
