Last month, there were reports of Meta-owned WhatsApp rolling out a new feature that would allow users to add and switch between multiple WhatsApp accounts within the same app on Android devices. However, this feature was accessible only to a limited number of beta testers.
Now, WhatsApp users can finally use multiple accounts on the same device without using parallel or cloned apps. This is similar to how Meta allows account switching on Instagram and Facebook.
Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.21 update, Android users can expect to see a new interface with an “Add account” button that would allow users to use the same account on multiple devices (via WABetaInfo).
With the addition of this new feature, users will be able to manage their conversations from multiple accounts with a single app, as well as keep communications and notifications separate. This also enables users to toggle between different accounts on the same device without the need for different devices or parallel apps.
โIn our opinion, this finally simplifies the process of using multiple accounts on one device, eliminating the need to set up a separate WhatsApp account, even from a different device,โ WABetaInfo states in its report.
The report also adds that users may be able to add only one additional account to their app. However, there are chances that WhatsApp may increase this limit in a future update of the app.
Besides the multi-account feature, another feature that WhatsApp is rolling out with the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.21 is a redesigned interface for settings to provide a more modern experience to users while navigating through the various options of the app.
In addition, the update also includes a redesigned profile tab right within the chat list, which will make it easier for users to open the settings of the app.
Beta testers who install the latest update of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store will get access to the multi-account feature, as well as the new interface for the app settings. These features are expected to roll out to more users over the coming days.
