Microsoft Fixes Broken ‘Print to PDF’ Feature On Windows 11 24H2

Microsoft has released a fix for a frustrating bug that caused the โ€˜Microsoft Print to PDFโ€™ functionality to vanish for users after installing April 2025 KB5055627 (OS Build 26100.3915) preview update on devices running Windows 11 24H2.

What Went Wrong

After installing Aprilโ€™s optional update, several users found that the โ€˜Microsoft Print to PDFโ€™ option disappeared from Settings>Bluetooth&devices>Printers&scanners.

Attempts to re-enable it via Turn Windows Features on or off often failed, showing error code 0x800f0922 โ€“ a glitch caused by missing driver hashes in system catalogs. According to the company, only enterprise customers are affected by the issue.

“Specifically, the Microsoft Print to PDF printer might no longer appear under Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Printers & scanners,” the companyย wroteย in updates added to the support documentation for Windows updates released since April.

“You might also notice that enabling the Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Feature returns error code 0x800f0922, which prevents the installation of the Microsoft Print to PDF printer driver located in C:\Windows\System32\DriverStore\FileRepository.”

The Fix

Microsoft has resolved the issue in theย KB5060829ย preview cumulative update (optional) for Windows 11 24H2, which was released on June 27, 2025. This update successfully restores the โ€˜Microsoft Print to PDFโ€™ feature for affected systems.

Workaround Options

Users can get the fix by installing Juneโ€™s optional update now, or wait until it rolls out to everyone via Patch Tuesday updates later this month.

Meanwhile, there are workaround options for those who want an immediate fix and prefer not to install optional updates yet. Microsoft suggests:

Option 1: Re-enable via Windows Features:

Press Windows + R, type optional features, and enable Microsoft Print to PDF in the Windows Features dialog.

Option 2: Openย PowerShell as Administratorย and run the following commands:

  1. Disable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features
  2. Enable-WindowsOptionalFeature -Online -FeatureName Printing-PrintToPDFServices-Features

However, using any of the above methods may still throw an error code 0x800f0922 error unless the June preview is installed, Microsoft added.

If you havenโ€™t run into the issue or donโ€™t mind holding off, the fix will be included automatically with the July 2025 update.
