Recent Leaks shows that NSA was spying over the public emails of Mexican President, by hacking into the email Account of president of mexico. the access to the public emails helped NSA to gather knowledge about policy making and political system of mexico.
The National Security Agency (NSA) has a special branch to tackle special projects like these known as Tailored Access Operations (TAO). this division use special methods for special projects, including spying over mexico. and in may 2010 TAO in a classified, top secret report said, ‘TAO successfully exploited a key mail server in the Mexican Presidencia domain within the Mexican Presidential network to gain first-ever access to President Felipe Calderon’s public email account.’
According to NSA, The hacked email domain which was used to spy was also used by Cabinet Members and contained essential information regarding country’s economic, diplomatic communication which provided insight to Government’s internal affairs to NSA.
According to a report in media group spiegel.de, The operation which was named as ‘Flatliquid,’ which is leaked by NSA whistle blower Edward Snowden. The media group have got the opportunity to look and analyze the leaked docs.
The relations between U.S and Mexico has been tensed since the Brazilian television network TV Globo revealed in September that the NSA monitored then-presidential candidate Enrique Peña Nieto and others around him in the summer of 2012. Mexican president summoned U.S ambassador regarding the news but he was said that investigation are being done.
The new leaks can cause more tensed relation between both the governments.
