UCWeb browser update released for Apple iOS and Windows PCs

UCWeb Browser updated for Windows PC and Apple iOS devices; to bring Data compression, cloud features and more

UCWeb Inc. (also known as UC Mobile) is a Chinese mobile internet company that offers products and services including mobile browser, search and so on. UCWeb, which is the developer behind India’s No.1 mobile browser, UC Browser has rolled out two major updates for its Windows and iOS desktop browsers on Monday. It’s been long time for iOS users, who have not received an upgrade since October 2013.

The move is an indication of the company’s plan to expand into other parts in an effort to provide uniform and streamlined browsing experience for its users.

Kenny Ye, Head of Emerging Markets at UCWeb’s International Business Department said “In this era of multi-screens, daily life is now surrounded by different digital devices. People start their day with the smartphone and move on to the laptop.”

“We’re making our browser available on multiple platforms to capture this trend,” he added.

The latest update of the Windows version of the UC Browser now has support for UCWeb’s cloud-enabled browsing technology. One of the greatest strengths of the UC Browser for mobile is its Cloud computing technology. It is the base of UC Browser’s important features, such as Cloud Acceleration and Data Compression, Pause-and-Resume Downloads, and many more.

UC browser for PCs will now be equipped with UCWeb’s signature cloud-enabled browsing technology, which can compress data up to 50 percent, resulting in faster browsing speeds. This is a huge advantage for broadband users around the world who use limited data plans on their desktop computers. Syncing through the cloud also allows for bookmarks and tabs in the mobile app to appear in the browser automatically, so that they can switch smoothly between UC Browser on mobile and PC.

Other features included for UC Browser on PCs are high-speed downloads, a file manager to sort out collections according to type and the ability to pause and resume downloads when interrupted.

UC Browser 10.0 for iPhone comes with major changes such as brand new user interface redesign, an ad-blocker, a video player and more. The app will also allow for more flexibility in design, allowing people to customize their wallpaper giving the browsing experience a more personal touch.

While the new UI comes as a fresh breather, the ad-blocker gives a systematic browsing experience. It can find out ads and stop them from loading. To give users the best viewing experience, the browser automatically rearranges elements on a web page. As a result, less data is consumed and web pages load much faster.

No upgrade has been released for iOS yet. For some time now, several of the updates that have been released are for the Android app. With more than 100 million daily active users that captures 48% of the market share makes UC Browser is the most popular web application in India, according to the company
