Rumours suggest iPhone 7 Plus will a mammoth 3,100 mAh battery and 256GB of storage capacity
According to reports from Chinese website MyDrivers, Apple’s next-generation iPhone 7 Plus is going to come with a 3,100 mAh battery and the option of 256GB of internal storage, as two differentiating features over the smaller iPhone 7.
The report does not specify if the iPhone 7 Plus will still have the base storage of 16GB, or if Apple will go for larger storage options such as 32GB, 128GB and 256GB compared to the iPhone 6s Plus variety of 16GB, 64GB and 128GB models.
The same report also claims iPhone 7 Plus will get a 3,100 mAh battery, which is almost a 12 percent capacity improvement over the current iPhone 6s Plus’ 2,750 mAh battery. It claims this would result in 2-3 hours of additional battery use. However, the rumour raises questions considering that the reports claim that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will be nearly as thin as the new iPod touch.
It is further speculated that the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus will retain the 4.7-inch and 5.5-inch screen sizes respectively, but does not offer any other new details about the smartphones.
Chinese website MyDrivers, doesn’t have the best track record at reporting on Apple’s upcoming product plans, so this rumour should be treated with caution until or unless other reports validate these claims.
Earlier speculations have pointed at the removal of the ubiquitous headphone jack from the next iPhone. Apple may remove the 3.5mm headphone jack on the iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus in favor of an all-in-one Lightning connector, allowing the smartphone to be thinner at 6.0mm and 6.5mm with a waterproof design. The iPhone 7 devices may further include a faster TSMC-built A10 chip and Intel 7360 LTE modem. They could also feature a non-metallic casing with hidden antenna bands and have 3GB of RAM.
Further rumours coming from the same site, MyDrivers indicate that Apple is also working on an iPhone 6c, which is likely to come with a 1,642mAh battery and 2GB of RAM.
