Hacker Puts up Stolen 290,000 US Driver’s License Details for Sale on Dark Web

Hacker Puts Up Stolen 290,000 U.S. Driver’s License Records For Sale On The Dark Web

NSA is selling stolen U.S. Driver’s License information on the Dark Web! No, its not the actual NSA belonging to government of United States but a hacker who has a handle named NSA.

A dataset that contains the personal details and driver’s license information of over 290,000 U.S. citizens compromised from a government-linked databases in Louisiana has been put up for sale on the dark web who goes by the name ‘NSA’.

The hacker has uploaded the data to an underground marketplace called The Real Deal and claims the compromised data dump is home to over 290,000 driver records in total.

The Real Deal, like all dark web-hosted marketplaces, accepts payment in Bitcoin, which is a form of cryptocurrency that makes online purchases anonymous.

The data includes names, date of births, addresses, ZIP codes, phone numbers, and email addresses. The data also reportedly contains details about drivers’ infringements such as speeding, theft, and even murder, claims the hacker.

NSA also disclosed that some of the data is incomplete, but all entries have a driver’s license number. “Sometimes MiddleName is NULL along with Phone Numbers and Email Addresses because whoever entered this data is a lazy [expletive] and should be fired,” he explained.

However, the hacker did not elaborate on the true source of the information, which is listed under the title ‘State of Louisiana Driver’s Licence Database’. In the description, the hacker says the driver licence records originated from “various organisations within Louisiana.”

The hacker revealed that the ages of those in the records range from teenager to senior citizen and the most common date of birth is 1983. “Within the database, you’ll find that there are records that aren’t of Louisiana origin like Texas or Delaware, this is due to tourists, travellers, etc. or the individual may simply be in Louisiana without a Louisiana DL,” the hacker added.

NSA’s listing for sale

Disregard the price on this listing. Make me an offer that you and I can both agree to and I’ll create a private listing that you can use to purchase this database.

I’ve retrieved over a quarter million (290k+) driver’s licence records originating from organisations within Louisiana, United States.

The records mainly detail crime/infractions/etc. associated with the individual on record like speeding, theft, and sometimes murder.

Sometimes MiddleName is NULL along with PhoneNumber and EmailAddress because whoever entered this data is a lazy fuck and should be fired. However, you’ll notice that FirstName sometimes contains the middle name or its initial.

Within the database, you’ll find that there are records that aren’t of Louisiana origin like Texas or Delaware, this is due to tourists, travelers, etc. or the individual may simply be in Louisiana without a Louisiana DL.

The ages range from teenager to senior citisen. The most common DOB year is 1983.

Don’t bother contacting me if you’re going to hit me with lowball offers.

NSA is willing to negotiate with anyone that’s interested in acquiring the data. “Make me an offer that you and I can both agree to and I’ll create a private listing that you can use to purchase this database. Don’t bother contacting me if you’re going to hit me with lowball offers,” he added.

The hacker does not have a store front and appears to be a one-off vendor unlike other sellers on the platform, such as the well-known Peace_of_Mind who is responsible for listing hacks including Tumblr, MySpace and LinkedIn.

Therefore, NSA has attempted to prove the validity of the dataset by giving a small sample on the Real Deal page. It shows the name of a Louisiana-based citizen, alongside date of birth, zip code, home address and information about a $204.50 speeding ticket.
