New BlackArch Linux ISO Released with Over 1,500 Penetration Testing, Hacking Tools

BlackArch Linux version 2016.08.19 released for ethical hackers and security researchers with 1,500 penetrating testing tools

In the month of May, the BlackArch Linux devs had released the BlackArch version 2016.04.28 as a replacement for the previous ISO image, version 2016.01.10. This new version added more than 80 new tools that can be used for penetration testing and security auditing operations. As a result, the new ISOs included over 1400 tools.

Now, three months later, on August 19, 2016, the BlackArch Linux operating system developers have announced the release of BlackArch Linux 2016.08.19, an Arch-based live distribution with a large collection of tools designed for penetration testing and security research. The development team with the new ISO has managed to add more than 100 new tools you can use for penetration testing and ethical hacking work.

The announcement reads: “Today we released new BlackArch Linux ISOs. The new ISOs include over 1500 tools. Here’s the changeLog: include Linux kernel 4.7.1; updated BlackArch Linux installer; added more than 100 new tools; updated all BlackArch tools; updated all system packages; updated menu entries for window managers (Awesome, Fluxbox, Openbox). We wish to thank all of BlackArch’s users, mirrors, and supporters. Thanks for your help.”

Since the BlackArch is built on the famous, lightweight and highly customizable Arch Linux operating system, the new ISO too have all the security and software updates released since the previous ISO image was announced in May. Also, the new Linux ISO serves more than 1,900 packages and has the recently released Linux 4.7.1 kernel as well.

The new ISO image known as the BlackArch 2016.08.19 is now available for download directly from the project’s homepage, where it’s distributed Live and Netinstall variants for both 64-bit and 32-bit hardware architectures.
