Become Robert Coombs, a capable individual who works at a national non-profit organization since 2012. He started seeking other jobs in various tech companies after his subordinates started getting better at their own job than he would have expected.

Even though he does not have an engineering background, he has knowledge on automating things such as data processing, and other things. In order to apply to several companies in the shortest time possible, he made a tool to automate his job application processing. In a nutshell, his tool comprises of crawlers, spreadsheets, and scripts to help with the entire process.

According to Fast Company, his tool was so effective that by the time he came back with a cup of coffee from down the street, the tool sent around 1,300 job applications. As a result, he terminated the robot’s workings and decided to focus more on improvements. With those improvements implemented, Coombs was able to send 538 job applications, but that does not mean his life was simplified because it was all about the simple errors that the program was making.

However, with further tweaking, he was able to get a call from a total of 43 companies, and though they were small in terms of their operational activity, it shows the miracle workings of a robot when you decide to improve it overtime. When he told his recruiters about the automation process, they were impressed with what he had done, but for now, he has decided to focus on his current job.

Maybe some high-end tech company will recognize his efforts and offer him a position worth his talents.

Benjamin “Ben” Heck, the creator and host of The Ben Heck Show, has managed to tinker the current generation with the  best gaming console “Xbox One S” released by Microsoft and convert it to an awesome portable laptop complete with screen for full-powered gameplay on the move. For those unfamiliar, Ben is a YouTuber that hacks, builds, re-designs gadgets and talks about different know-hows on his channel.

The video below shows him breaking down the components necessary to make the machine run on a laptop front, and then configuring it for best results. While the there’s a lot of work that goes into making of the laptop, it’s definitely a fascinating process to see what makes an Xbox One tick.

Ben uses many of the major components of the Xbox One S (Blue Ray Drive, Power Supply Unit, a Motherboard, and a Hard Drive) as the base for the laptop. He also uses a controller to navigate menus to start a Blu-Ray movie. Ben takes the motherboard and scans an image of it in Adobe Illustrator. To give him more mounting options, he uses laser patterns to knock holes in the motherboard. He also cuts the aluminium base of the Xbox One S with a computer numerical control (CNC) machine to form part of the laptop chassis.

To ensure that the gaming console that was converted into a laptop has proper ventilation, Ben reduced the hardware size to ensure that it cools properly. He managed to find an appropriate fan that can be controlled at different speeds so that the laptop will not overheat.

The best use of Function Keys (F1 to F12) in windows


F1 is considered the universal shortcut for help. Almost all programs instantly bring up the help or support menu if you press F1. In Windows, pressing Windows key with F1 will bring you the Microsoft’s universal Windows Help and Support.

F2 is considered as an edit key universally. If you want to rename a file name in Windows Explorer, select the file name you want to edit, press F2 and type the new name you want for the file or folder. The combination of Alt + Ctrl + F2 opens the Documents Library while on MS Office suite.

F3 lets you search specific files and folders in Window Explorer. Similarly, you can use F3 to search/Find something in almost all browsers including Google Chrome, Firefox Mozilla and Microsoft Edge.

In the command prompt (MS-Dos), pressing F3 repeats the last command line. In Microsoft Word, Shift + F3 toggles between capitalizing each word, lower case and upper case for selected text.



F4 is known as the great escape key. Pressing Alt + F4 immediately closes the current program without saving the same. It can be used in an emergency it can be used to close browser windows you don’t want others to see.

In Windows Explorer, F4 takes the focus or cursor to address bar. It does the same on all Microsoft Internet Explorer browsers including Edge.



F5 is the most popular among Internet surfers because it refreshes the browser content. It also performs a similar action in Windows Explorer. However, a few users know that pressing Ctrl+F5 will hard refresh a browser webpage. This means that the content will be reloaded from the server instead of the browser cache.

In Microsoft Office, you can use it on PowerPoint to start a slideshow and it will open Find, Replace, Go to dialog in all MS Office programs.



F6 can be used like Tab key on Windows desktop to toggle from the desktop files to the taskbar and the system tray icons. It can also be used to bring focuses on the address bar on most browsers. In Microsoft Office programs, it toggles between the menu items and workspace.


While F7 does not have any use in Windows, it can be used to turn on Caret browsing on Mozilla Firefox. This feature places a moveable cursor in web pages, allowing you to select text with the keyboard.


Pressing F8 during the Windows boot process lets you enter into the Windows Start Menu (commonly used to launch the safe mode).


If you are a programmer you would know that F9 is used in Integrated Development Environments. Ctrl+F9 will compile and run the code.


F10 shows the Menu bar in Firefox and IE or highlights the same on most programs. Pressing the combination of Shift + F10 is equivalent to right-click and pops out the context menu.


Pressing F11 opens full-screen mode in Windows Explorer and all browsers including Google Chrome. On MS Excel Shift + F11 adds a new sheet and Ctrl + F11 adds a new macro to the workbook.



Pressing F12 in Microsoft Word will instantly open the Save As an option for you to save the document as a new file. Pressing Ctrl + Shift + F12 is equivalent to Ctrl + P on MS Office .

Why Does 64-Bit Windows Need a Separate “Program Files (x86)” Folder?

Since 2005, Microsoft has offered both 32-bit and 64-bit versions of its Windows operating system (OS) to support new 64-bit CPUs. So, if you see a folder Program Files (x86) on your computer, it means that you are running a 64 Bit Windows OS. You will notice that there are two separate folders where your Program Files are kept:

• Program Files (x86), which contains 32-bit programs and applications, and.
• Program Files, which contains 64-bit programs and applications.

But, have you ever wondered why it is necessary to have these two folders and what’s the difference between them?

A 64-bit Windows OS has a backward support for 32-bit applications. Also, a 64-bit Windows stores all 32-bit apps on another folder to let you know that these apps are created for a 32-bit OS, which is also a very good way to organize everything properly.

Windows runs smoother if it keeps these two very different types of code separate. The OS can’t assume that an x86 program even knows that such a thing as x64 code exists, and that could cause problems if they cross. For example, if a 32-bit program went looking for a .dll, and found one that came with an x64 version, the program wouldn’t work and wouldn’t know why it didn’t work. Therefore, keeping them in separate folders is the simplest way to avoid such problems. However, this folder (Program Files x86) is only available on a 64-bit Windows (XP, Vista, 7, 8) OS.

So, is it the 32-bit folder called “(x86)”? x86 is another way to refer to 32-bit processors. Originally, 16-bit processors — specifically, the 8086 and 8088 processor architectures — were referred to as “x86”. This name was later extended to include the 32-bit 80386 and 80486 processor family. When 64-bit processors were introduced, they were referred to as x64 to distinguish them from the older processor lines. The number 86 now refers to pre-x64 code, whether it’s 16- or 32-bit, even though the 16-bit x86 code won’t run in 64-bit versions of Windows.

Other than the Program Files, there are also some other components that have both 32-bit and 64-bit version of Windows. Some of these are stored in Winsxs (stands for Windows Side By Side) and WoW64 (Windows 32-bit on Windows 64-bit), which is a subsystem of the Windows OS capable of running 32-bit applications that is included in all 64-bit versions of Windows.
