‘Pokemon Go’ Generation 2 To Release Soon Indicate Starbucks Promotional Memo
Pokemon Go fans may soon see a big update happening to the augmented reality (AR) app. It is expected that Pokemon Go might be adding second generation monsters on December 8, Thursday, according to the leaks made by Starbucks employee that have surfaced online.
According to the leaked documents, starting Thursday, the majority of Starbucks’ company-owned stores in the U.S. will become official PokeStops or Gyms for the game. The reason for this is that stores have seen an uptick in traffic and sales in PokeStop stores, so the idea is to replicate that wherever possible.
“The world of Pokemon Go is about to expand with new Pokemon and a new Starbucks beverage!” the “Barista need-to-know” promotional memo says.
The promotional memo prepares baristas for dealing with an influx of Pokemon Go players, some of whom may not order a drink while collecting Pokeballs and potions. “Serving our customers is the most important thing we do every day,” the guide says. Starbucks’ advice is to “make the moment right and use your best judgement to address Pokemon Go players in the cafe.”
Players who show up at those stores will also unlock a virtual Pokemon Go Frappuccino Blended Beverage. Eventually, the same drink will be available for all Starbucks customers in the real world to purchase and drink.
While the news hasn’t been confirmed by Niantic, Starbucks or the official Pokemon Company but folks on Reddit are claiming that leaked images confirm a long-awaiting feature for the game along with a PokeStop sponsorship with Starbucks.
Whether or not all 100 of the new pocket monsters will be made available at once is unclear, but this could definitely prove to be an important moment for the mobile app whose player base has declined from its extreme highs.
