Bill Gates says no iPhone for me; switches to Android smartphone from Windows phone

Bill Gates’ new smartphone is not an iPhone, but an Android smartphone

Looks like Microsoft former CEO and co-founder Bill Gates has moved on from Windows Phone. Gates recently admitted in an interview that he has switched to an Android phone, but did not reveal the model of the smartphone he uses.

In an interview on Fox News Sunday, Gates says, โ€œI happen to use all Windows-based PCs. The phone that I have, recently I actually did switch to an Android phone with a lot of Microsoft software.โ€ He uses Microsoft apps like Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint and others for his productivity needs. When asked whether he would be using an iPhone sometime in the future, Gates replied, โ€œNope, no iPhone.โ€

Bill Gates career advice in a series of tweets to university graduates

While Gates had banned iPhones and iPods from his home in the past, he does admit that “Steve was a genius. Absolutely amazing,” in the Fox interview. โ€œThe competition in the software and IT space that Steve [Jobs] helped foster, itโ€™s phenomenal. And Microsoftโ€™s a big part of that,โ€ he added.

Microsoft officially stopped the Windows Phone lineup in July, as it failed to make a significant impact on the smartphone market. In April, the Redmond giant has been selling a Microsoft Edition of the Samsung Galaxy S8 in the U.S. So, this makes me guess that Gates may be using, a Samsung Galaxy S8 or an 8 Plus Microsoft Edition device.
