WhatsApp For Android Adds 18 New Chat Themes

WhatsApp, the popular Meta-owned instant messaging platform, has rolled out a fresh new update for Android users by introducing 18 additional color options for chat themes. This addition of 18 colors brings a fresh layer of personalization to the messaging app, allowing users to enhance their chat experience through visual customization.

WABetaInfo, a reputable WhatsApp tipster publication, has discovered 18 additional color options for chat themes in the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.25.19.2 update from the Google Play Beta Program. This addition increases the total number of available chat theme colors from 20 to 38, aligning the Android experience with what iOS users received in the earlier 25.17.70 update.

Previously, WhatsAppโ€™s customization options were fairly limited, primarily focusing on light and dark modes or basic wallpaper changes, leaving little room for personal style.

With the new update, each theme brings a unique color palette that adjusts the background and chat bubbles, enabling users to tailor conversations to their style or mood.

As one can see in the screenshot above, the themes range from soft pastels and calming blues to more vibrant shades, such as orange and green, offering a wide variety of aesthetic choices.

Users can access the new themes by navigating to individual chat settings, selecting โ€œChat Color,โ€ and choosing from the newly available options.

These new themes are fully compatible with both light and dark modes, adapting seamlessly to maintain visual consistency and readability. The customization of themes can be applied in two ways: on a per-chat basis (via the chat info screen) or universally across all chats and channels (via WhatsAppโ€™s main settings).

Once selected, WhatsApp automatically adjusts not only the chat bubbles but also the wallpapers and doodles to match the chosen theme, creating a more cohesive and engaging chat experience. With options ranging from soft pastels to bold and vibrant hues, users can now express their style in a more meaningful way.

Currently, the 18 additional color options for chat themes are available to some beta testers who install the latest updates of WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. This feature is expected to roll out to a broader Android audience over the coming days.
