More Comcast name calling antics like “Dummy” and “Whore” as other customers come forth

It started innocently enough with some rogue employee who supposedly altered a customer’s name in their database to “Asshole Brown”, now Other customers have since come forward claiming they also had their names tweaked as insults by Comcast.

I don’t think this is what Comcast wanted to deal with at the end of the week.

Who would of thought that you could call your customers offensive names and still be in business with them. Having a monopoly certainly helps, Comcast knows this and for most people they are the only game in town.

Christopher Elliott’s blog, a consumer advocate first broke the news of the Comcast Asshole incident.

That story caught fire and trended online, as other Comcast customers reached out to Elliott with similar claims that their accounts were altered with offensive names.

One customer’s bill had her named changed on her bill as “Whore” of course her name is not “Whore” and she had to speak to over 20 Comcast employees over the course of several weeks until this name issue was resolved.

Another Comcast customer had his name changed to “Dummy” and also had to go through a series of customer service hurdles to eventually correct his name on the Comcast database.

Even a third Comcast customer had his name changed to a less auspicious “Fakoe”, while not strictly a offensive word, was not his real name.

The name changes seem to be tied to their account and not just on their paper billing statement and seem to be tied to calling to remove ancillary services like add-ons that involve two year contracts that include a bundle of extra channels that are over and above the standard Internet service.

At the time of this writing Comcast stated they are resolving the issue, but according to the offended customers no formal apology has been made

  1. Their marketing agents in the field are also very cocky and arrogant. My folks were basically being harassed by one of their sales people at their own front door, luckily I was there at the time to intervene. After I explained to the sales person that my parents were satisfied with their current WOW! Wide Open West service, and they had a price lock from WOW! for the next two years for their service bundle, he really kicked it up a notch and started his intense spiel about how great the Xfinity service is. I declined again and said they were satisfied with their current service provider hoping that he would just leave. This is where things turned a little bit, because he asked why I was “closed minded” and why I did not want to switch service providers? Kind of pissed me of so I answered…My response was simple enough and even gave Comcast/Xfinity kudos for their service. I said: “We enjoy our privacy, while comcast delivers faster Internet speeds, and their On-Demand is superior to any other service provider I don’t care for their blatant traffic monitoring and snooping.” He asked what I was referring too, so I went on to talk about there traffic monitoring of packets and basically spying on what type of information their customers download. The sales person lied, said that Xfinity is not Comcast first, so I laughed and said your wearing a Comcast sweater vest! He told me that I needed to get educated, and for a moment I thought I was going to have to get hostile and remove him from the property. I guess I need to get educated? I suppose another certification or possibly I need to go on and get an IT related Masters so I can be educated enough to talk to the guy selling Xfinity cable on the street? LOL!
