This portable standing desk made out of cardboard allows you to work from anywhere

Refold, a New Zealand based company has recently unveiled a portable desk made out of cardboard that can be doubled up as a standing desk too.

Priced at $250, the desk is made entirely from lightweight cardboard and can hold up to 187 pounds. This means that you can easily place your computer on this desk. It can be broken down into a flat rectangle of cardboard with a carry handle by locking it into place via slots within the cardboard, which is 0.2 inches thick. The small is 3.28 feet high; the medium is 3.45 feet; the large is 3.61 feet. The best part about this desk is that it can be recycled since it is made from cardboard. Depending on its usage, Refold estimates that the desk could last from 1-3 years.

Being lightweight, you need to just fold it into a carry case which would be roughly 14 pounds in order to transport your desk or store it. It’s dimensions as a carry case are 43 x 26 x 3.3 inches.

Refold are all about standing while working, pointing out that it’s proven to increase productivity and help people engage with others. It also means that you do not need to sit around all day, which can be apparently very bad for you. It can also be useful for business that is highly mobile, as it can be easily transported.

You can also purchase a portable sitting desk with legs in New Zealand or Australia, if you are not comfortable standing and working. Refold also says you can customize the desk into a canvas, since it is entirely made out of cardboard.

While Refold is not the only portable standing desk out there, StandStand also folds up to the size of a laptop and is made from birch and bamboo.

However, the cardboard desk does have some apparent drawbacks too. For example, the cardboard desk could be easily damaged if you are trying to transport it in the rain or if you accidentally happen to spill a glass of water or tea over it.

So, while the idea of working with this inexpensive portable desk from wherever you like may be intriguing, but beyond that you may want to think over its drawbacks too and weigh your options accordingly.
