Official Twitter Account of the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) got hacked.

The Official twitter account of  the Australian Electoral Commission (AEC) was hacked today.
AEC is the Body responsible for managing & conducting Election in Australia. In a tweet today The AEC confirmed that there twiiter Account was hacked and was used to send message to different twitter profiles through it.

It seems like the Compromised Account of AEC was used as Phishing bait for others. AEC have asked all other people to whom the message was sent through its account, to change their password, as mentioned in one of their tweet If you filled in any details once you clicked the link I advise you to change your Twitter password asap.

It is not of big surprise since hackers commonly uses the first compromised Account to send phishing messages or link to others to get Access to other Accounts.

There is no report of Any other Account getting hacked by the phishing messages sent by AEC account.
