Apple to repair the MacBook Pro affected by screen bug from 2011 to 2013 for free

Apple to offer free repair for 2011-2013 MacBook Pro hit by screen bugs

The MacBook Pro’s which were affected by the screen bugs in the period 2011 to 2013 will be repaired by Apple for free.  Apple confirmed that it will provide free repairs to the MacBook Pro users who were affected by this bug, exactly four years after the bug was detected and reported.

The screen bug which hit many MacBook Pro users across the globe caused blighted screens with sudden and frequent reboots, video playback distortion and in case of some users, entire display went off. Apple has confirmed that the screen bug affected a  ‘small percentage’ of MacBook Pro users and it will offer repairs free of charge before February 27, 2016.  Those who still are under its original warranty dont have the one year timeline to abide by.

The bug which was first reported in 2011 affected MacBook Pros in the 17-inch and 15-inch screens range and also in the series of 2012 and 2013-manufactured Retina MacBook Pro machines.

The affected owners had voiced their complaints via tech forums and directly to Apple’s Cupertino office, while, some had filed lawsuits against Apple.  Finally Apple realised its folly after four years and agreed to offer free repairs.
