Xiaomi ditches exclusive partnership with Flipkart embraces Snapdeal and Amazon

Xiaomi smartphones to be sold on Snapdeal and Amazon, no more exclusive to Flipkart

Xiaomi and Flipkart mutual exclusive relationship helped Xiaomi become one of the largest smartphone makers in India however now Xiaomi has taken everyone by surprise by announcing that it will partner with Snapdeal and Amazon in addition to Flipkart for future sales.

The new announcement comes via Mi India’s social media pages and also from a tweet from Xiaomi’s India rep, Hugo Barra.

Despite the huge success of Redmi 1s, Xiaomi has been feeling the pinch from competition to its latest products like Mi 4 and Redmi Note 4G and seeking to expanding retails sales avenue for some time now. It had announced that Xiaomi products will be sold through The Mobile Store and Airtel outlets on 30th March and it has also announced that it will be giving out a free 5200 mAh Mi Power Bank with Redmi Note 4G sold through the physical stores.

It is also doling out a hefty discount of Rs.2000.00 on Mi 4 16GB as well as 64GB model as a part of larger customer engagement. The Xiaomi Facebook page notes “To celebrate our 5th birthday, we are having a one-day only discount of Rs 2000 for all …our Mi 4 models (16GB @ Rs 17,999 and 64GB @ Rs. 21,999), to thank you for your support. This offer is valid from 12 noon to 12 midnight on 8 April only.“

Flipkart will remain a Xiaomi sales partner albeit not exclusive any more.
