Xiaomi Mi5 and Mi5 Plus to come with Snapdragon 820 SoC and QHD display in November?

Leaks suggest Xiaomi Mi5 an Mi5 Plus to be launched in November with Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC

According to a report from Xiaomi Today, the company is expected to launch the Mi5 flagship along with the premium Mi5 Plus. Generally the Plus versions have seem to be taking off well for the smartphone companies. A few months ago, the Chinese manufacturer had used this strategy when it launched the Mi Note and Mi Note Pro.

The report goes on to reveal more info about the upcoming products. A few Mi5 leaks indicate that both the phones will feature a bezel-less display on the device, which is in line with the growing trend in the Chinese smartphone industry. According to the report, the phones would not be launched till November and there Are high chances that they may hit the markets by next year. Xiaomi may also be planning to introduce the devices across major Western markets.

As for specs, the Mi5 is reported to sport a 5.2-inch screen 2.5D glass display with 1440 x 2560 pixel resolution. On the other hand, the Mi5 Plus will be launched with a massive 6-inch display with the same resolution. The basic version will come with 3GB or 4GB of RAM along with 16GB of internal storage capacity, whereas the Pro version will come with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage capacity just like the Mi Note Pro.

Both the devices are reported to sport the Snapdragon 820. Apparently, the next generation of flagship chipsets will come bundled with a solution for the major overheating issues on the Snapdragon 810 chipset. Further, the Mi5 will sport a 16MP camera on the back and a fingerprint scanner too, while the Xiaomi Mi5 Plus will feature a 20MP main camera. The Mi5 is rumored to have a sleek frame of 6.1mm/0.24 inches and will be powered by a 3,000mAh battery.

If everything goes according to plan, the Snapdragon 820 should start shipping out to manufacturers later this year. It looks like Xiaomi’s next premium duo may indeed end up benefiting from the services of this silicone piece.

Last but not the least, the report suggests that Xiaomi plans to price the phones very competitively. The Mi5 may go on sale for the equivalent of โ‚ฌ334/$371/Rs.23000 .
