Also, Motorola’s Moto G (2nd Gen) is currently being offered at a discounted rate in India. The smartphone initially launched with a price of Rs. 12,999. Although, there have been rare price cuts, this is the first time that the smartphone has had its price permanently decreased. The Moto G (2 Gen) can be seized for only Rs. 9,999, which is Rs. 3,000 less the original price of Rs. 12,999 on Flipkart.

The dual SIM Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) has a 5 inch HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3. Upgradable to Android Lollipop, it is equipped with the 1.2 GHz Snapdragon 400 quad core processor and 1 GB RAM. It offers 16 GB built in storage and a 32 GB micro SD card slot as well.

The Motorola Moto G (2nd Gen) has a 2070 mAh battery and weighs 149 grams. Measuring 70.7×141.5×10.99 mm, the smartphone offers an 8 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. The rear camera has auto focus, slow motion video mode, burst mode, HDR, LED flash light support and panorama mode as well.

At Rs 9,999, the Moto G 9 (2nd Gen) will compete with Lenovo A7000 (Rs 8,999), Honor 4X (Rs 9,999), Asus Zenfone 5 (Rs 8,499), Micromax Canvas Nitro, Samsung Core Prime 4G etc.

The smartphone which was launched back in the month of September last year for Rs 12,999 turned out to be a sweet deal for many, until Xiaomi showed up with its Mi 4i. Recently, Xiaomi had slashed price of its Redmi 2, Mi 4 and Redmi Note 4G while OnePlus One and Huawei Honor 6 too have got their price revised.

Motorola has not given the reason behind the concession, however many people believe that the company is preparing stage for the release of the Moto G (2015). It is common practice among mobile manufacturers to slice prices ahead of a new device release. According to reports, the Moto G (2015) will come packed with a quadcore Snapdragon 410 processor and will run the Android 5.1.1 Lollipop. The smartphone has 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory.

The Moto G (3rd Gen) will have a 5-megapixel front-facing camera and a 13-megapixel rear-facing camera. It will sport a 5-inch IPS LCD display screen with a resolution of 1080 x 1920 pixels. It is expected that the upcoming device will come with a 3.5mm headset jack and a micro USB port, according to Latino Post.

Xiaomi has been Motorola’s biggest rival so far. The Chinese smartphone maker beat Motorola at its own game with a segment that it built from scratch with the original Moto G.

Still then, one cannot bang Motorola’s offerings when it comes to software updates, thanks to the company’s mostly vanilla Android UI and its rapid update cycles. Motorola’s older flagship the Moto X recently got updated to Android 5.1 Lollipop, which is proof enough that the company cares about its older handsets as well.
