OnePlus 2 to be unveiled on July 27 for $499, specifications listed online ahead of launch

OnePlus 2 specs listed online, priced at $499 (Rs.32,000) and powered by 3,300 mAh non-removable battery

OnePlus 2, the much awaited flagship device of OnePlus 2, is scheduled for a July 27 release. But, the OnePlus One successor has already been listed on Oppomart website, although without any image of the product.

OnePlus that has opted a different marketing program for this flagship. Each week, they would reveal a new piece of hardware that will be included in the OnePlus 2, so that customers know what to anticipate before the device is officially launched.

Oppomart, a webstore that sells many other high-end Android smartphones made by Chinese handset makers, is listing the OnePlus 2 now for $499. However, it looks like the smartphone might be priced a little higher when sold through retails channels other than OnePlus’ invitational system.

Oppomart has also listed the flagship device as one to feature 5.5-inch capacitive touchscreen display that supports Quad HD (2056 x 1440 pixels) resolution and features 586ppi (pixel per inch) density. It is going to be powered by an 64 bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 processor coupled with an Adreno 430 graphics processing unit and 4GB of RAM.

While OnePlus hasn’t officially announced the camera specifications for the forthcoming device, the Oppomart listing claims the OnePlus 2 will come with a 16 megapixel rear camera that will feature Sony Exmor IMX 234 sensor and come with dual LED flash. Its front camera will be 5 megapixel.

According to the previous rumors, it pointed to a 13-megapixel camera for the OnePlus 2, so we will have to wait and watch the smartphone will come with what camera specifications.

Oppomart also lists the smartphone as having a fingerprint scanner support, an “embedded” 3,300 mAh Li-Polymer battery and 4G LTE global support. It also claims the smartphone will be available in two versions: 32GB and 64GB. Lastly, the OnePlus 2 will be powered by Oxygen OS based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

One detail that does not match the official details is the cost price of the device. While Oppomart has listed the price at $499 (Rs.32000), Pete Lau, OnePlus CEO has publicly promised that it will be priced below $450. Also, no details are provided regarding the new USB Type-C charging port.

How much of this listing holds true or will undergo changes, would be revealed only when the smartphone is launched towards the end of the month. The company is expected to live stream the event through its OnePlus Cardboard virtual reality headsets to officially launch the OnePlus 2 device on July 27.

The price revealed by OnePlus for OnePlus 2 will be a great dampener for Indian buyers because they were expecting the latest iteration from OnePlus to cost sub Rs.25000. In fact tech forums were agog with the pricing of Rs.25000 to 30000 for OnePlus 2 with maximum votes for Rs.27000.00. It remains to be seen whether Indians will be hooked to this version of OnePlus like they were to OnePlus One despite of the price not being according to their expectation.
