Microsoft is forcing Windows 10 on users’ machines without their consent

Microsoft wants to thrust Windows 10 down PC/Laptop users throat it would seem. Microsoft started to download Windows 10 to the computers of Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 users regardless of whether they want their operating system to be upgraded. Alert Windows users have noticed the sudden appearance of a folder called $Windows.~BT, occupying up to 6GB of space in their PCs/Laptops.

If you have reserved/registered for Windows 10, this would make sense. But if you dont want to upgrade your PC/Laptop, downloading the system files to your computer without your permission seems little obnoxious on Microsoft’s part. Further, blocking up 6GB space in your HD without your permission, Microsoft seems to take its love for Windows 10 too far.

Also the 6GB upgrade files will be a burden on those who have a slow or metered/capped internet connection. As the download takes place without the user’s permission, their internet connections may slow down drastically.

In a statement to The Inquirer, a Microsoft spokesperson said:

For individuals who have chosen to receive automatic updates through Windows Update, we help upgradable devices get ready for Windows 10 by downloading the files they’ll need if they decide to upgrade. When the upgrade is ready, the customer will be prompted to install Windows 10 on the device.

Do you think it is proper for Microsoft to force an upgrade on you? Kindly comment on what you think in the comments section below.

  1. I kindly think no.
Then I kindly looked into blacklisting the cidr of *microsoft*
we’ll add msnbc , CNET, etc. to that later. . .
Then I kindly went to my Process Hacker ][ and I hopped over to search and found BITS and Windows UPDate and turned both services OFF and stopped them as well right then and there, ;o)

Then I kindly went to my time server and made sure… Okay okay I need to search the registry cause I FORGET where that is,

Then I kindly went to search for more telemetry urls, domains cidr’s, networks, and spyishness update-ish msdn-ish frame, iframe, xframe all into the blacklist, into the squids and other peerblocks, and hosts files and thingys..

And then I decided that this will be the last microsoft OS

I kindly look forward to Going through my netbooks, and other XP workstations and making double sure, no accidents.

In fact I am thinking DELET the update service itself..

Kindly wish security didn’t have to go out the windows with windows, but It’s finally gone over the waterfall. I will GitHub Archive, and QUicky get my Last of the Google Code and Clone and Park these boxes for FOrward perpetuality, as I work towards my local MESH bbs.

  2. Windows 10 meats the requirements to be seen as a virus. It is downloaded in secret and it’s distributionprocess uses P2P techniques.
