Mortal Kombat eSports tournament has a $500,000 prize pool

A new competitive season for Mortal Kombat X eSports will kick off in April with $500,000 on the line.

Warner Bros. is launching a huge Mortal Kombat X eSports program in April, and the prize pot will be whopping $500,000. The project includes the third season of ESL Mortal Kombat X Pro League, which will pit the best players around the world against each other starting on April 3rd. The top sixteen players will then compete in front of a live audience on June 12, and the final eight finalists will play for a chunk ($200,000) of the prize pot.

The winner of this tourney will get only $200,000 because the balance will be divided among other tournaments being held across North America, Europe, the Russian Commonwealth and Latin America.

The ESL Mortal Kombat X Challenger Cup kicks off April 2. PlayStation 4 and Xbox One players not competing in the ESL Pro League will be able to participate online for cash and prizes. Open tournaments across North America, Europe, CIS and Latin America. These will be held weekly through the end of June, with monthly finals streamed live.

Those who purchase the Blue Steel Sub-Zero or recently released character skin Krimson Ermac via the PlayStation Store or Xbox Marketplace will be directly contributing to the Mortal Kombat X tournament prize money, as part of the proceeds will be added to the pool.

You can always find more information on the tournaments and see how you can participate though the ESL Pro League website.
